Is a great price worth trading to an 2008

Currently I have an 03 F-450 CC 4X4 Lariat with a ranch style bed. It was an early build 6.0. There have been a few problems with it, nothing to major, a turbo or two, the EGR grap, bell housing leak, no injectors replaced, everything has been covered under warranty and the truck is running better than new. It has around 60,000 miles on it. Still have 1 year or 40,000 miles of the power train warranty remaining.

I have come across a deal that is hard to pass up. A new 2008 F-550 CC 2WD XLT with an aftermarket conversion (major conversion company) that includes custom leather interior, buckets, rear view camera, TS transmission, wood dash, aluminum wheels, hauler style Ranchhand bed, goose neck hitch, tow command, 150 gallon fuel capasity. You get the picture, pretty much full blown package. It has a MSRP of over $72,000, and I can pick it up for right at $30K off the MSRP.

For those of you who have moved over to the 6.4 and 2008 model truck, have you been pleased, overall? I guess I am questioning the validity of making an unplanned purchase. I would be getting a new truck with a new warranty. Not to mention the smell of a new truck. I feel the price would be a safe entry point even given the current marketability of a large conversion diesel powered truck.

So someone give me some train of thought, keep my current Superduty and hold on to my $42K ?
Go new, I can always off set the cost of the new truck by selling the current truck (have no idea what it would be worth).
The new truck sure would look good pulling my 5th wheel Travel Supreme.
The cheap side of me says keep your cash.
The cheap side of me then says...that is one heck of a price on a new loaded F-550.
Ideas Please!!!!!!!

Are you kidding? That’s a fantastic deal!

A Bud of mine just bought a 08 F250 King Ranch, I think he said the sticker was 52K and he paid 39K, lots of great deals out there due to slow economy and high fuel prices.

When comparing the two trucks, IMO the 08 rides better, looks better, pulls better and the interior is awesome!

Just keep in mind if you keep the motor stock the fuel mileage kinda sucks but the way I see it is you only live once so enjoy while you can. My son owns a 06 and he gets around 16 city and 21 hwy, my 08 gets 14 city and 18 hwy, keep in mind we both drive like old ladys which makes a "BIG" differance.

Im glad that I did, I had a 05 F-350 that had given me 70k of trouble free miles other than head studs (that was caused by upgrades and not a Ford problem)... The only thing on your F-550 deal is 2wd, did you have 4wd for a reason last time? Other than that I would only go on to say, What You Waitin For?!?

Almost every large Ford dealer here in Colorado has huge inventories of powerstrokes just sitting on the lot....10-15K off MSRP is not uncommon. Especially the closer to the time when the 09s start rolling in.... Now is the time to get one if you can afford diesel......

CAN YOU TURN YOUR 03, OR KEEP IT FOR A YEAR IN ADDITION TO THIS ONE?

Its truly a buyer's market out there and, you stand a good chance of not making anything on the used truck. I'd check black book to see what you might get for it, and don't even think of trade-in. This is going to have to be a single party sale to get anything on it. Be prepared to sit on it for a good bit.
