'08-Up General QuestionsGeneral questions related to 2008-Up Super Duty trucks. If it doesn't fit the other categories, post it here. Gas engine discussion that pertains to all models is allowed. Specific gas engine questions should use the Gas Engines forum.
I am going to pick up the parts to put the stock fog lamps on. My question is, how do you remove the headlight switch on the 08 superduty? I ordered the new switch, brackets, bulbs and harness.
Has anyone done this to their's yet? I think these are all the parts I should need. Any advice or help is apprecitated.
I'll be back in a couple of hours with the parts I hope.
Thanks

If you remove the side panel on the dash you can get to the switch. The switch is held in by tabs so you can just release the tabs and push it out from behind.

Thanks PowerStrokeHD: I haven't installed it yet, still way to muddy outside to crawl underneath.
F.Y.I.- I had to buy the parts individually. 2 brackets, 2 bulbs, 1 front side harness and headlight switch, all for $200. If anyone wants the part no.'s I'll post them. Looks like install will be very easy. Just remove the blanking brackets and install the lights. These are all O.E.M. parts. My truck just didn't have the option installed.

Ok, now for a little more info. I have mine installed and connected but I have no power at the harness. Talked to Ford and they weren't sure if there may be another relay in the system. Per the owners manual there is a fuse #21 called fog lamp relay control. I verified the fuse is good.
Give me about a week if you aren't in a hurry. I ordered the wiring diagrams for the 08 250 thru 550 this morning. I should have them in a couple of days and I'll have the answer then.
A little hint on the install. There is a outbd. bumper support on each side that prevents the brackets from fitting into the bumper. It's only 3 bolts on each, just mark where the bracket sits because they are adjustable. Also you use the bolts that are holding the blanking plates to install the lt. assys. Another thing, the trim around the switch pops off with a screwdriver. Check back maybe Mon. I'll have it working.

Sequoia: Do you know which position? I only have the owners manual to go buy until I get my wiring diagrams. As you probably know well, they are very vague as to what systems they control. Any and all help appreciated. On aircraft I know alot of the buss relays control alot of things, and there are a couple of those that aren't installed on the truck. The only thing is, they say gas engine only in the manual. Thank you for your help. The only thing I can say right now is I have no power at the truck side with the switch in fog mode. I have to find out where the interuption in power is. Heck I may have gotten a bad switch, or like you say there may be a relay missing. I WILL let everyone know when I find out. And again thank you for your help.
