Exclamation Just checked VIN on Ford Site, New Recall

I justed checked Ford's recall by VIN on their site. I was going to have the seat bracket done tomorrow.

New Recall, Recall ID: 08C04
Description: FUEL TANK STOPPER BRACKET INSTALLATION.

I spoke with the service adviser and found out they don't even know about it yet. I told him I would call him in a few days to see what he found out about it and he could fix them both at one time. I don't have time to run back and forth for these type of problems.

TommPA What size box do you have, as you can see by my signature I have the F350 FX, its a super cab long box. I ran the vin on the recall site and all it shows is the seat bracket which I'm going in for friday.

Bowstring,

I have the shortbed version. That might be the problem, short bed versions or build dates. Mine is build of 02/07. Might be because it is a black one.

side note:
I spoke with the friend that sold me this one, he said he takes it I don't want his F350 Lariat (loaded) Job 2 (black) in a few months when he gets rid it. I told him NO. I don't want all the same headaches all over unless he can get it all fixed before I would consider buying it. I know there is no chance of that happening. I know for sure he does not care what fuel he buys. That caused some of my problems with the DPF and related sensors in this truck.

hello all

First off I am a certified ford technician, I have been set up with doing this recall. Second the color doesn't matter. I have ro's of every color to check. This recall involves the F250 and F350 trucks.

This is the exact definition of trucks involved in the recall : Advance Notice: Certain 2008 Model Year F-250 and F-350 4X4 10,000 lbs and Under GVW, 156" Wheel Base Vehicles Equipped with a Two-Piece Drive Shaft - Fuel Tank Stopper Bracket Installation

So as you can see It involves any color 3/4 and 1 ton trucks that are 156" wheelbase, 4x4, 10,000 lbs and under GVW and have the two piece driveshaft.

Also as of todays date there is no fix for the recall yet. So I am on hold until they can come up with a fix. We have pulled every F250 and F350 from our lot. We can't let customers drive nor even look at these vehicles until after the recall has been done.

The reason for the recall is that in a headon collision there is a small chance that the fuel tank may slide forward causing it to damage the fuel delivery module or fuel lines due to contact with the cross member. causing fuel leakage. And of course fuel in the presence of a spark will ignite causing a fire hazard.

Hope this helps and happy trucking.

Dealers are supposed to have more information and hopefully a fix for this recall by 04/28/08 or sooner...

Vehicles affected by this recall would have been built anywhere from JOB 1 through 03/28/08...

I am surprised to hear that the GVW has something to do with it. I have the higher GVW F350. So I guess I am in the clear.

Thank you for the information Redneck1. I will hold off for another week before I call and schedule the truck to have both recalls done. That should be enough time for the information to get to the dealer and get any of the parts that they might need on hand. I called the 800 number last week and didn't get any more information then what was in my recall.
