Does anyone have a 350 6 speed manual tranny with the leather captains chairs? I've tried to find it on the "build your truck" section on Ford's website but no luck. Does anyone have this setup or know if it's available?
I do not think that you can combine the two. Maybe the shifter might possibly strike the center console that comes with the captain chairs. I do know that I am very grateful that at the last moment when ordering my truck I went with the captain chairs. For me, much more comfortable than the 40/20/40 seats I had in my 2004 SD.

The Captains re the same seats as the 40-20-40 except for the center console. I do believe that it is unavailable with the center console due to clearance issues.
that is what i thought. i have an early '99 with the zf6 and cloth captains chairs. was hoping they still had it as an option. i'd have no problem reskinning them myself in leather.
If you are looking for the captains chairs for the armrest, forget it. They don't come with armrests anymore. Center colsole sits high so left arm on door rest and right arm on center console are the same height.

oh ok. but regardless, the 6 speed man does not come with the capts chair correct? Are the 40/20/40 seats as comfortable as the capts chairs. Also do the 40/20/40 have lumbar adjustments etc with them and power?
There are a lot of options that you can not get with a manual transmission. Dodge omits even more from their trucks. GM...you know that is not even possible any more. I must say the 40/20/40 seats do not hold you well, and when turning it feels like you are against plywood with no support. But, make sure you get the power seats because you can angle them in such a way that you are squeezed and slide around less.

That is correct, captain chairs are not availiable with the 6-speed.
The 40/20/40 seats are the same as the captain's, the only difference is one has a console and the other has a seat. Infact you could take out the "20" part add a factory console and have captains. I believe I saw that someone had done this on another forum with his 6-speed and I believe the shifter just barely touched the console in low gear...

i must have to say it is a toss up between the superduty and dodge. but like you said both manufacturers have their pros and cons. i would absolutely prefer to stick with another superduty as i have a '99 7.3 right now for the interior space and have 4 other men in the truck at times and makes a big difference. i also have a torn up back so comfort in the driver's seat is a must. I know it sounds petty but last thing i want is to go and have my back fused from poor support.

Hey jlau6888,
Yes, with my new center console mod, you are now as close as you can get to the original captains chairs configuration by Ford.
The only difference (to my knowledge) is that you won't have the arm rests?
I kind of miss them but much happier to be rid of the middle jump seat!!!
See my earlier posts about how you can even retrofit the console a little further back to make more room for the gear shift and drinks in the cup holders!
You'll still get power seats and lumbar adjustments and my seats are factory leather as well.
It's about the best we can do, "us handshakers" that'll get us the equipment we desire! It appears that we're becoming second class citizens......
I'm still a very happy Ford truck owner though!
Best of luck and cheers from the Colorado Rockies!
Leo

The '08 captains from the factory do not have arm rests, so once you changed out the jump seat for the console you have exactly what you would have got from the factory had you been able to order factory captains...

I sat in both the Captains and the 40/20/40 before ordering the latter. If you focus on the part that cuddles your butt (ignoring the 20 part) they look like exactly the same seat. I didn't notice any difference in comfort, but that was sitting only, not driving. I've been very happy with the comfort of my seats. I specifically got the 40/20/40 because I knew I'd occasionally need to carry 6 people. I even had the Mrs sitting in the middle for a 2.5 hour trip. Other than me grabbing her knee (intentionally) she had no complaints.
