A little background: We have own fords for many years. We purchased in 2008 a new F350 with a 6.4L Diesel engine for our business. When we picked it up, it was the sharpest truck we have ever owned, but have had nothing but trouble.
First problems began with the leaks in the radiators. 3 seperate times we had it at the dealer, each time getting new radiators put in until they figured out it had something to do with the faulty manufacturing. This resulted in our truck being out of service for more than 2 weeks and our business totally shut down.
Next, a pierced hole from something being knocked loose and rubbing caused fluid to spray everywhere. Truck was out of commission for two days while they checked with ford for the "warranty" of this part. We contacted for customer service and they decided to replace it.
6-7 months pass without incident until we have to have it towed in. The entire rear axle had to be replaced. Not covered under normal warranty.
2 Months later, bring it in for regular service a the shop finds that both the upper and lower radiator hoses are leaking at a cost of $450.00 to replace. Not covered under extended warranty.
4 months later, truck dies in the middle of a busy intersection. Truck is towed in and out of service for a week. (business shut down again). All 3 exhaust gas temp sensors went bad and had to be replaced. Not covered under extended warranty.
1 month later, fluids leaking and its determined that it is leaking at the crank seal and oil pump and hydroboost. (found leak in piston section in unit causing problem. The pump was replaced, new pressure hoses and hydroboost unit. $2,000 repair, not covered under extended warranty. (cab off)
3 months later (3-30-11) truck is towed in because of loss of power. Hole found in turbo feed pipes on rear of engine (cab off). New pipes etc (not covered under extended warranty) and the repair was over $2100.00
No less than one week later, truck DIES! Towed in to dealer and this time its for major repair. It was deteremined that the entire small block has to be replaced. This was at the beginning of april. It is now the end of the month and they have called us saying the truck was complete and now the vehicle has another issue. They took it out for a test drive and vehicle has no power. They said they took the cab back off for the 2nd time and the high pressure pump is out (oil pump?) 1 month and truck and business have been out of service. ( this is all covered under warranty, but our business has been greatly affected)
Its getting ridiculous. We cannot afford all the repairs and manage to keep our business afloat. I'm reaching out to all you guys on here for some advice on what to do. Ford customer care is a joke, they wont respond and I'm running out of options. Always been loyal to ford, but right now I just don't know what to do.

Some trucks are just lemons (I think every make has them). If your business is suffereing because of it, I would first of all talk to the owner of the dealership you bought your truck - tell him/her that your business relies on the truck and ask him/her if what you have had to deal with is acceptable. Ask for what he/she can do for you. If its nothing - do what you need to do!
Good luck...

I can see why this would be extremely frustrating, and I would like to reach out to offer my assistance. So I can help, please send me a private message with your VIN, approximate mileage, and dealer name.
truck was finished today and is now home. Dealer stated that the trucks high pressure oil pump also went out and had to be replaced. If it wasn't for the extended warranty this repair bill, according to the dealership, would have been over $11,000 repair.
Cory, I will be PM'ing you shortly.

I feel for you and your situation with the truck. An honorable dealer probably could have come up with a loaner vehicle off their used lot if they cared about it all. With all of the problems after your initial radiator repairs... I'm tending to think a low coolant situation coupled with mistakes or poor workmanship when it was in the shop initially has led to more of your problems later on. Our F-350's have simply had the crap pulled out of them with heavy trailers & not a lick of any problem with them. We bought the extended warranty but other than peace of mind have had no reason whatsoever to use them.
Our truck is a speciality vehicle and outfitted for industrial catering, so a loaner vehicle is out of the question. I am waiting to hear from Cory on what options are available.

I have an 08 dually as well, I have to top up the rad res. every few months with a liter of coolant, and I've had the EGR valve and housing replaced, now my cruise control is working intermittently. Nothing major but a real pain. Let me know what happens.

may be the break pedal positioning sensor. had mine go out. would work intermittently as well. apparently there are two sensors that can cause this so make sure they fix the right one the first time. I had to go back a second time to have the right one replaced.

In response to my post on the truck returning to the dealer a week later, it turned out that a fuel delivery line wasn't properly tightened and was spraying diesel fuel everywhere.
Today, we used the air conditioner for the first time, only to find out that the repair facility didn't charge the system back up after replacing the small block. High humidity and 80 degree weather with no a/c! Spent two hours at the dealership today while they fixed that.
Corey was no help. Haven't heard a word from Ford Customer service. Contacted my dealer where we purchased it from and he listed a few options like swapping out trucks etc... Haven't heard a word back from him.
I would be satisified if they would refund us all the repairs we had to pay out of pocket and maybe extend our extended warranty even more.... Truck as of today is running great. Its showing an additional 4mpg more than before the engine was swapped.
We will see what happens next...

Truck broke down again today....2 months later. Seems to be a routine. This time it died on the expressway. Called FordWarranty for tow thats covered under my policy and they refused to tow it. I just love being stranded on the expressway and being told im SOL. AAA covered it and it was towed in. Not a mechanic, but my diesel mechanic (not a ford dealer) said the rear seal leaked and now the axle/hub assembly? needs to be replaced.
On the side of the expressway, the truck wouldn't move. We thought the transmission went out, so we checked the fluid and it the dip stick was dry. Our trusted (non ford dealer mechanic) said the seal was damaged when they did the swap...god only knows what kind of damage has been caused to the transmission.
For the people who are wondering why we don't bring it to ford, it because this is only company vehicle for our family business, and my trusted mechanic will stay till the job is done, and wont be put in the back parking lot and sit for a week. If its a warranty job, then we will bring it to ford.
The dealer where i purchased it from said its passed the 30k mark so buy back is out of the question. Corey...yea no help. Its pathetic!
