Question Manual 2WD normal cab F250/F350 - Is it even possible?

I'm interested in a Ford diesel (although many tell me to run away from the current diesel engine) F250/F350. However, I want it to:

*Be 2wd
*Have a standard 2 door cab
*Have a manual transmission

I can't seem to build this on the Ford site at all because as soon as I select manual / diesel I get 4wd.

I called my local Ford dealer and they messed around and called back and said they could order it. I have my doubts and am wondering if this is some way to get me to come in and then try to sell me something else. I don't wish to waste my time with that.

So, does anyone know if you can get what I listed from Ford? I know you can from Dodge, at least it'll let you build one and nicely optioned too.

Thanks,
Ron

Oops! Diesel engine/stick shift combo not available on any 2010 SuperDuty 4x2 pickup. Diesel engine/stick shift combo requires 4x4.

Code 99R/447 = diesel engine with 6-speed manual tranny, available on regular cab F-250 and F-350 SRW pickup with XL or XLT trim and diesel engine/automagic tranny combo (with any cab/wheelbase).

Yep. Face it, Ford is slowly but surely ending the hand shaker option. My guess is if you want a manual tranny, this may be the last year you can get it. But yeah, it has to be a 4x4 if you want a 2010 with the diesel engine.

I suspect you talked to someone who doesn't know how to read the order guide. It says in plain English:
"6.4L OHV Power Stroke diesel V8/6-spd Man. O/D (NA on 4x2)"

Not according to the order guide. You have to add either 4x4 or automatic tranny, regardless of cab or trim. And if you do choose the manual tranny with 4x4, there are lots of options that are not available because they require automagic tranny.

But don't use that Dodge threat with me. If you want to cut off your nose to spite your face, go ahead. That bankrupt, government-owned outfit needs the business.

Thanks for the info.

I'm a Ford guy and really don't want a Dodge. Just pointing out they were more flexible.

I was bummed when I heard the diesel F150 was killed. Not pleased the flexibility with the manual is going away too. I might need to look around for an older truck with the 7.3 Powersmoke. I have seen some of those in the config I'd like to have, even 2wd diesel manuals with a small cab.
