Well, just found this site and thought Id say a hello before I began.
Currently I have an 06 F150 Screw FX4. Its got the 6" procomp stg. 2 lift with big tires, rims, yada yada ya. Over $15k in aftermarket parts and 30k miles. Ive really been looking at the new 08 F250s. I really like the way they look. Ofcourse I would lift it and add a few other things as well to it.
So heres my dilemma, my trucks paid off, Im in my 3rd year of college and scholarships cover everything. I bring in $500 a month working, which is just spending money. I need to figure out how much I could get for my truck and how much an 08 will cost me.
The kind Im looking at is the PSD CC with the short bed. Black is the color of choice. It doesnt have to be brand new, but would like under 10k in miles. Trim style is between FX4, lariat, and King Ranch. Harley is an option, I just dont know how it would work with a lift, since the f150 is tough.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated and hopefully I will be a diesel owner shortly.
do you plan to do much towing? i am a former f-150 owner too, i had about 25k invested in mine(11" lift, front rear lockers, supercharged, ect.) the only reason i went with the diesel is i tow 10k pounds on a regular basis and the f-150 was not happy doing this. if you dont tow or haul and the diesel prices the way they are i would not get a new truck IMO

Dont tow and really dont plan on towing. I just love the way the 08s look. It seems the longer I wait, the cheaper they get. Flip side is, same holds true for my truck, especially with the 09s coming out, although Im hearing a lot of ppl not liking them.
Go for it!!! the PSD has so much more balls than anything else. I could never go back to the wimpy half-ton now haha. I am very happy with my '03, and I'm sure you would be even happier with a sweet new 6.4 twin turbo! The only downfall is fuel cost. If you lift your truck with big tires and all that you will suffer in milage. I went from an '03 F-150 to my current 6.0 psd and now pay about twice as much on fuel. If I do my daily driving with the truck (about 60 miles/day), I'll pay around $800/month in fuel, and average 12mpg or so. But easy double the power so really you get what you pay for. Due to cost I have resorted to only driving the truck on weekends and driving the little protege to work during the week. It sucks..but was just too rough on the wallet to be worth taking to work. And if you get an '08 psd, be sure to get a lift, big tires, programmer, intake, and larger exhaust on your truck. The coolness factor is priceless! Every Joe has a lifted 1/2 ton. Far fewer have a beefed up diesel.

If your not towing or hauling the diesel is just an expensive toy. Maybe a V-10 would be the ticket? Alot less $ initially and alot less $ for maintaining it. Hope you find one you like.
Maybe more cost, but the resale value of the diesel is WAY more than the gassers. You'll get most of the $7k difference back when you sell for sure. And nothing wrong with expensive toys

I agree. I have a garage full of expensive toys. But he did mention he's a student with about $500 a month to play with. You could easily spend that on fuel, never mind the monthly note and insurance.

My thoughts exactly. You have a really nice truck (paid for nonetheless) for being in school. With diesel prices what they are $500 probably would barely cover my insurance and fuel, let alone my payment, and I only drive the truck on the weekend! Plus any truck is hard to move in this market, even your gasser, without taking a big loss. Don't strap yourself...wait a year and get one when you graduate.
