new truck w/350 miles

A new truck I want has 350 miles on it. Should I avoid it since I don't know how it was driven or broken in? I'd sure hate to find out later it idled for hours.

Thanks in advance.

you could check the engine hour meter if your really concerned by calculating the average speed. I wouldnt worrt about how it was broken in. also, ive been driving mine almost 500 per week so thats really not even a weeks worth of driving...

It depends on if there are more available in your area. Otherwise, you have 100K and 5 years warranty.

It is still under warranty, are they giving you anything extra off of the MSRP because of the mileage? I thought mine was suspect with 25 miles on it

I am sure it is fine, but I would be suspicious of all the test drives it has been on, and we all know how people generally "test" cars.

It could have been a dealer trade too. I wouldnt worry about it. I dont think the break in process is that big of a deal i know truck drivers dont baby a new diesel semi, these arent much different. Just my opinion

I just got a new 250 today and it had 250 miles or so, as it was a dealer trade. I'm not worried about it. If those first 250 miles are gonna affect this truck, I don't need it anyway.

What exactly is a dealer trade?

When you have a very good relation with your dealer and salesman. But they don't have the truck you want. So, they get on the computer and locate the truck you want at another dealer. They then trade a vehicle in stock for the other truck. And then you have a dealer trade...

When I bought my E-350 in 99 (7.3) I remembered being told how to break in it. Then, I came across this link which reinforced my concern:

Cummins' Break-in Recomendations - TDR Roundtable

Either way, the wife walked out with a 2008 F-250, 6.4, with 13.1 miles. She's in heaven.... As for my van, I'm still in love with it, lol.

I'd try to get some money off for the miles but if that fails i'd buy it anyway 350 miles won't hurt anything.
