Overloaded 08?
Hey guys, I need some advice on my current situation. I work for my fathers drilling company, and we have about 10 ford trucks altogether. We have a 08 F350 cab & chassis with a drilling rig mounted on the back. This exact rig has been mounted on various f350's since 1991. I recently had a problem with the driveshaft causing a bad vibration. They said it was warped and replaced it under warranty. This truck spends alot of time offroad, so it wasnt really a surprise that something was warped. The vibration also caused a break in the exhaust system, where the pipe is welded to the dpf. It took them about 3 weeks to get the part in and I left the truck at the dealer for about 5 days until they could get it fixed. When I went to get the truck, the service guy started preaching to me about how the truck is so overloaded that the wheel studs are squeaking and that something is wrong with the wheel hubs or something, and that they were not going to warranty any work pertaining to this. I didn't really understand what he was telling me, I was just trying to get my exhaust fixed and be on my way. After I left the dealer, I noticed a bad screeching sound coming from the rear of the truck. After I got the truck home, I noticed that on the left rear, one of the wheel studs was broken completely off and somehow the dual wheels had shifted, like the studs are touching one side of the bolt holes instead of being centered when you tighten the lugnuts down. I am 100% sure that this truck was not like this when I took it to the dealer, and I am convinced that they did something or had some kind of accident with my truck. I am not sure what the truck weighs with the rig, but the helper springs are barely touching and I don't think it is so heavy that it is causing wheels studs to snap off while it is sitting in the parking lot awaiting service. I am not really sure what to do at this point, but I have a hard time believing that the new 08's are "weaker" than the trucks of the past. (The previous truck was a 2002, and it carried this rig for 150,000 miles with no problems of this sort.)
