Power Steering Box fried

My 08 f350, Job 1, Built June 13 steering box is fried allready. Because I have a 6" lift they may not cover it. Im suprised it would be fried at 30000 km. I guess when my truck is in the shop every other weekend with problems whats another one.

Computer failed at delivery
Air filter was packed with Ice and truck stalled
EGR sensor Failed and was replaced
Rad split open
Chrome peeled off grill in spots, no warranty
Bumpers rusting allready, no warranty
Door side steps, pitting, no warranty
Power steering pump, pootched, mabie no warranty

Whats next?

Ron

Mine did the same thing. It happened just a few weeks after I bought the truck. I have a 4.5" lift and 37" tires, and the dealer did not give me any trouble with the warranty.

What was happening to let you know you had problems. Mine makes a loud pop when you turn the wheels just about all the way in both directions.

Mine was not making any noises. It was leaking oil all over the driveway. It had a small crack in the casting that was causing the leak.

Thats probably why they replaced. The dealer said that the Ford engineers are watching as they have been replacing the boxes on the trucks but wont on a lifted truck and I think that is BS. It would of went anyway no matter if its lifted or not.
I waiting to hear from the dealer now. Cant believe they wont stand behind it.

I think that is BS also. One other thing you might want to look at is the track bar on your truck. You stated that your truck is lifted. If the track bar was removed or replaced during the lift with an aftermarket track bar, that could be causing the popping noise while turning the wheel. I don't remember what the torque specs are for the track bar, but I do remember they are super tight. If the track bar is not torqued properly it will definitely make some popping noises.

I'm not sure what you guys are doing with your trucks, but I hope you get it resolved. I've got about 11k miles on 38's with an 8" lift and the box is absolutely fine. (watch it fail because I said that.) One thing though, do you guys have any bump steer? that could add extra wear on steering and track bar ends. I never steer the tires while still. Learned that back with jeeps and stock boxes. Always steer while moving, even if its only an inch or two per second.

that loud pop, i am going to bet, is your track bar bracket coming loose, not the steering. i would loosen all the bolts a hair, and re-torque them, i was having this problem for a while too
