question about bed on F-250..

I am new here and am a first time owner of an F-250..Anyhow I was looking at the bed on my 250 and the floor at the front (Cab end) of the bed where it ends and the vertical piece that there is a pretty good size gap there.

Has anyone ever sealed this gap with anything? I am worried about moisture getting in there and rusting?

Any opinions are greatly appreciated!!!

I think it is actually so when you have snow or water in your bed and since your truck is lower in the front, the water rolls to the front of the bed and drips out, I could be wrong.

Lets the water out when it rains. Won't be an issue as long as it dries from time to time.
