Question about fuel gauge?...

Has anyone noticed their fuel gauge slowly returning to full after refueling? I always leave my truck running and roughly five minutes after refueling the gauge is showing full. Outside of this the gauge(sender) appears to be accurate. Hand calculated mileage by the way is 12.3, 50/50 driving with 3500 miles on truck. As always thanks for your input!...

slow fuel guage

Sounds normal to me. My 2000 does the same thing. The guage is really dampened. Its very slow if you dont turn it off. If you shut it off and restart the guage should go to full right away.

Normal for all Ford vehicles...not just trucks.

All of mine have been slow reacting if you leave the truck running. If I would turn the truck off and then on again, it would react quickly.

I have not had my truck for long. I was wondering, why do you leave the truck running, and not shut it down?

Ditto for my 04 F150
I think my 06 Titan reacted the same. No worries.

I have never shut down any of my diesels while fueling...Sometimes for comfort(wife is with me), most of the time because I always idle my truck to cool the turbo(s). I guess I am really "old school" in the belief that it is also harder on the vehicle to cycle off/on in roughly less than ten minutes. My last Ford was a '97 and I could not remember how the fuel gauge(sender) behaved. Thanks for all the replies. Asking a simple question here saves me from jacking around with the dealer!
