Recall parts not on hand?

So I got two recall notices for my '08 F350.

1. The seat bracket one

2. The fuel tank bracket/shield notice.

Got them about a week ago and decided yesterday to make an appointment for 8am. Asked if they wanted the program numbers. They said no.

So I drop off the truck at 8am, sign the paperwork and off I go.

About 4:30pm I decided to call since I had not heard anything. Well, it seems I need the seat back bracket and the tank shield but they do not have the parts in stock...Ok, *** over? The seat back bracket I can maybe understand if it is a huge item. However, from what I have seen of the bracket it would make sense to keep at least one on hand.

I am now out my truck for two days. Seems like every time I take it in it is a day for parts and a day to fix. One more repair and I am asking them to pay a payment...

Glad I stocked up on oil filters. Hate to be out of use a day for them to order an oil filter....

Same thing happened to me only thier excuse was when they opened the package for the seat bracket not all the parts were in the package and had to order another kit.But mine was in for a radiator R&R so they had the truck a few days anyway.

Besides the lack of parts, there is a HUGE communication issue with this stealership. The day I dropped it off at 0800 I had to chase them down and never got a response until 1630. Then the service guy said they had to order parts. ***!? It took you over 8 hours to determine you needed to order parts? BULL @)*$%# sh*t!! The service guy offered "you can come and pick it up and drop it back off when we get the parts". Ok, this at 1630? I made an appointment at 0800 for a reason, thank you. Why do I have to chase you down to get a status on MY vehicle? I had already decided to do things with my family at that point. And the price of diesel doesn't make much sense in making multiple trips to the same place...and back...Service writer says he will call me by 1000 the next day if the parts were there or not. Guess what no call:

I had to go down to the stealership and confront the service manager about why I can not get a call back about the status of my truck when I leave 2 voice mails to the service writer and the service manager himself.

Of course he was all "I did not know anything about this".....[Yeally, you RUN the service department?] Says he would call me when the parts got there or by 1700. Called about 1330 saying the parts were there and they were starting work on my truck. FINALLY!!!

I got a call the second day about 1530 saying my truck was ready.

They have had the truck for:

1. Faulty fan clutch

2. Cracked DPF. "Couldn't be" truck will not regen until 5k miles? O'RLY?

3. Cracked DPF from above. "Oh, yea, it is bad and needs to be replaced". NO *&%*^*^$%^$ SH*T!! I told you that when I had it in the first time skippy!

4. Recall x2

Each time they had the vehicle for at LEAST 2 days.

In the lifetime of the truck I figure they will owe me at least 2 to 3 months payments for the time they sat on the truck.

*WHEW* Off the soap box...

Hey, have a great Father's Day all you dads!!!!!!!!!!!
