Receiver Hitch Problem

I just bought my 09 F250 and I have a problem. When I stick the stinger into the hitch I can't pin it. I took it into the Ford Dealership and they tried to tell me it was my stinger. We took it out and tested it on other F250's on the lot and it was a 50/50 chance weither it would fit or not. We tried 3 other stingers that were just out of the factory packaging and found the same thing. Is anyone else having this problem? The service manager ordered another hitch and it was the same result. We are on the 3rd hitch. If you have the Walmart Special it is loose enough to get the pin in. If you buy a solid stinger they don't fit unless you trun them upside down. What's the deal?

It sounds like you are saying that the 4 pin holes don't line up. 3 holes with a solid bar. If turning the mount over makes a difference, then it sounds like there is a slight misalignment (crooked holes) with both parts. A few minutes with a big rat tail file or power tools sometimes is the only way to make things fit. Fix the part that is the farthest from true. Then repaint. Don't overlook a possible bent pin.

Did some more investigation. Ford is having this problem all over the states. Something is wrong with some of the hitches that came off the assembly line. You have about a 50/50 chance of getting a correct one. We took 4 other stingers and 2 that were factory and walked down the isles of trucks and either they all fit or none of them did. So to those buying new trucks take a stinger with you and make sure the pin will go through.

By the way it sounds like hitch #3 is a winner.

Glad to got it figured out, I got to say that I've never seen a stinger in use, slick piece of equipment. Seen them on work vehicles and just thought they wouldn't be used on a private vehicle. Thanks for the info.
