replace 17" rim with 16" rim

I have a new 2009 xlt with 265/70R17. I was wondering if older 16" rims could be used with 265/75R16 tires? The tire diameter's come out to be the same, but is the bolt pattern and back spacing going to be different? The reason is that I need to run winter tires and they seem to be cheaper for the 16" rim.

Also, how annoying is the tpms light? I don't even know where it is, but any chance of getting away with just putting a piece of tape over it for winter?

Nevermind, it took awhile, but I found it.

Apparently the answer is no as it won't clear the caliper.

16" wheels on 05+?

Actually I was debating that very question... glad I didn't pursue it any farther!
