RV Towing

I have a 2008 King Ranch F350 4x4 Diesel. I tow a 30' fifth wheel. I am thinking to add a Taylor style wing for more aerodynamics. I have heard people say they dont do enough for the cost. If they do anything at all they should return at $4.50 a gallon. Does anyone have any first hand experience at this. I would really appreciate your thoughts.

My truck is a 2008 F450 4x4 King Ranch (5 weeks old with 800 miles on it so far) and I just got a new 40' 5th wheel (20,000# gross) last week.

I considered getting a wing, but after reading many comments from owners that have one, I really don't see the indications that they save much if anything on fuel. (they really do keep bugs off the 5th wheel though.)

I put a Jack Rabbit retractable bed cover on my truck, mainly for lockable security and to keep rain out of the bed when I'm not towing, but they claim it will improve mileage, and I'll be adding Motorcraft centane and multipurpse additive to every fill-up. So far, I have my tires at 80psi, as recommended by Ford (which is within the tire manufacturer's - Continental's - guidlines for the load's I'll be carrying) but I intend to increase them to 90psi shortly to see how that rides.

I just returned from a 500 mile trip (not towing) on Thursday this past week, and the guage showed 14.5 avg mpg on the way out, and 15.8 on the return. I rarely went over 60 mph. If I can get anywhere near to that (hand calculated) I'll be extremely happy!
