Tailgate Weight

How much weight can the tailgate take? I want to load a Golf cart in my truck.
Also does anybody know I if it will even fit? It has a lift kit and larger mudder tires on it

i load my 500lb sport bike in my truck, driving it across the tailgate

I've done it no problem, just make sure the brakes work good. My buddy just about drove his thru the rear window when the brake cable snapped.

Lift doesn't affect what you can put on your tailgate or whether it will fit. Measure the length of your cart. If it's longer than the length of your bed, then you're not going to be able to fit it.

You might be able to get away with leaving your tailgate down and adding a bed extender, or adding an "extension" to your hitch receiver (if your cart is really that big). As far as the weight goes, I'd be surprised if it could sustain anything more than 300 lbs. You might want to call Ford and ask.

If it has to sit on the tailgate, back it in. Most of the weight is in the rear of the carts. I had to buy a hitch extension because the tailgate wouldn't close.
Putnam makes one for about $60.
