Ok well as my post record will show im new around here. I have had my truck for 9 days now. On day 6 what do ya know i got broke into. the typical cram a screwdriver into the lock cylinder. My question has to do with replacing the front drivers handle with a rear handle. has anyone done it here and does it seem to have prevented any more breakins. i realy have no use for a standard lock on the door.
I feel your pain. Happened to me last week. Less than a month old 09. Now have to repaint the messed up door. Will not look good since the rest of the paint has the orange peel on it. Really sucks.
Would this help? Wouldn't they still be able to break the plastic handle and get to the control arm for the lock?
Theres a website called Tuffy Security Products i think and they have a piece of steel that you can install behind the handle inside of the door so that you can't break open the door handle with a pry bar or screwdriver.

I'd like to know how to protect mine as well. Just last week a coworker's F250 was stolen from a restaurant parking lot at lunch. They broke in a drove away very quickly. And even worse it was just recovered, wrecked and bashed up. Now the battle begins...
I have used Jimmi-Jammers along with thousands of others on this forum. They work. Especially with an alarm system, the pounding on the lock will activate the alarm. Without the JJ's, it's a 5 second entry. JJ's were one of the first things I added when I bought my 2008.

Sorry for your loss. As a previous owner of a soft top jeep, I pretty much gave up on even locking my rigs. It sucks. But the scumbags are going to get in and take your stuff if they see it and want it. My philosophy is to limit the damage to my rig.
I put a game camera (motion sensitive) in my driveway which has helped. I think the flash going off is more of a deterrent than anything else. My neighbor told me he was sick of it flashing, once I explained what it was and why I had it, he seemed not to mind as much and said he'd help keep an eye out especially if it went off.
