trailer brake issues?

All...hoping you can help. I have an 08 F350 with the standard tow package. Went to hook up my trailer this morning and had NO connection to the integrated brake controller. It did not show that i had any trailer connected and the brakes did not work at all. I did have lights (brake and turn).

I checked all wires on the trailer and everything seemed good to go. I checked the voltages out of the hitch connection and with the brake applied I had good voltage to brake lights etc, but no voltage to the pin for the brake controller (with the brake applied).

Does anyone know what the voltage out from the brake controller pin should be at the hitch? Anyone else have ideas why the lights would all work, but the brakes are not functioning (other than a broken/grounded wire)?

Thanks in advance!!

I don't have an answer, and don't mean to hijack the thread, but something similar happened to me this month.

Hitched up the camper and noticed no right turn signal on the camper but the left bulb worked. Checked the right bulb and discovered it was blown and the socket was slightly corroded. Had just got back from the Keys 2 weeks ago and drove through some torrential rain on the way back...perhaps the bulb blew then.

Drove down the street and after tapping the brakes several times at stop signs and red lights, the dash indicated no trailer connection, the trailer brakes did not function, and no trailer lights. Removal of the bad bulb regained the trailer lights and brakes, and a replacement bulb got everything back to normal (after the light socket was cleaned out of rust).

The question remains...why did a burnt out bulb cause the trailer connection to fail and produce no brakes or lights on the trailer. I had plenty of stopping power for the Pop up camper, but this is a potentially dangerous situation if the failure happens on the highway with a heavier trailer and at night.

Have you checked for a blown fuse for the brake circuit in the Power Control box under the hood?
