What tires to go to after Conti's??

I have a '09 F-450 which has the traction Conti's. As of right now I am not overly impressed with them. Seem to feel a little loose in the steering.

What do you all recommend as a good alternative replacement tire, needs to be a traction type tire.

Thanks!!

I used to run Goodyear AP's until they discontinued them, after that I switched to Goodyear RT/S's, they are a fairly open tread and wore very well on my '99.

As soon as I wear out the BFG's my '09 came with, it's getting RT/S's! I've never been disappointed with Goodyears.

Falcon, just curious - what air pressure are you running? David

I'm a Michelin fan. Expensive, but a better value for the long run.

The F-450 has "real truck tires", which usually means you would use different tires on the steer and drive axles. The Michelin in size 225/70R19.5 for the drive axle is XDS2.

The Michelin doesn't make agressive tread tires for the steer axle. But their XRV is a good tire that will probably be what you want.

I always liked Michelin as well. I had great success with their AT series on my 2003 dually; however the AT2's that I replaced them with were a disappointment. I am going to try a set of Goodyear Duratracs on my 2008.
I think those commercial grade Michelins are still top notch skins to put on!

...ah, I missed the '450' part.

You are still good to go with Goodyear.

I went with Hancooks... Steering up front of course and drive tires in the back. I got them at Ford... They couldn't even put them on. They had to keep the truck overnight to finish up the front alignment... then they washed it for me... in the heat... and broke the front windshield. To their credit, they paid to have the windshield replaced. Still, a hassle...

Just got an '09 450--steering seemed loose or too sensitive compared to my '07 dually--checked air in front tires, 80PSI. I think 85 is on the door sticker. Anyway, aired them to 100 and it tracks a lot better now. Still having some trouble with lanes rutted by semis.
