What is the deal here guy's, I have owned them all and not realy partial to any but my 5.9 Cummins is being missed right now!
If you don't roll into the throttle on the 6.4 it is such a tird! Is this going to get better? I only have 800 miles right now but come on.
What is the deal with the statement of the 1st turbo to "get everything moving", one turbo seemed to do the job better IMO. Am I missing a flash or something??

HELP!
Evidently you didn't drive a 6.0 with a manual tranny. You can kill the engine in first gear - and took forever to get moving.
These truck have an adaptable learning system - git it time.

One thing to remember on these 6.4's is that the engines wait until the turbos spool up before dumping more fuel into the system. So from right off idle, there appears to be a huge lag before it starts flying.

My 6.4L is the first diesel truck I've ever owned. I've heard stories of people saying their trucks (not just 6.4L) lag in getting up to speed. Don't know, but it doesn't bother me... :-D We have bad ass trucks, dude... :-D

All I know is that guys are running high 12 second 1/4 miles in the 6.4s with a Spartan tuner and an exhaust. Not my idea of a slug, but Ive never felt any truck leave off the line as hard as a well built 7.3.

Chrysler standard throttle setting is more aggressive than ford. You would need to compare actual 0-30 times to say the cummins was much more responsive. The throttle setting on ford will be made more aggressive with any performance tune. That change plus harder shifting makes the truck feel better. Things like an air intake are just sold to make the tuner money. Because these items are bundled with a tune everyone thinks they're great. Evaluated alone no one would buy these products. I now buy tuners for all my cars and trucks. But I'll never buy things like air intakes again. Any of these products that don't show a big horsepower gain is b.s. A turbo aded to a normally aspirated engine is my definition of a performance improvement product.
That's what I REALLY want, but for now I have to settle for stock. That's a lot of $$ to dish out at once. But...I know I can save up and hopefully get it next year!!
I really think its the way ford has it programmed to save on the drive train. When I bought my 07 F150 test drove one of the very first F250 6.4s in my area when they first came out. Compared to my late build 08 F250 I have now that first one didn't have the lag. I still really like mine and it has plenty of pulling power but there is a tuner sitting on the bench to go in to hopefully remedy the quirk.
