Just got truck back from dealer for compass fix and reflash, but now I have a problem. Message center comes on and says: "WIRING FAULT ON TRAILER". It started coming on when I'd put the truck in reverse. Now it just pops up when it wants to. Book says that there's a bad connection or ground between TBC and 7 pin connector. Dealer says reflash shouldn't have anything to do with it. I didn't know if anyone else had this problem before? Any help would be great!

Mine did the same thing only i did not have the reflash. Ford told me it was my after market 5th wheel plug. So i went back to the travel tralier dealer and had them rewire the plug to ford specs. After they did the message came back so back to ford, service writer said now that the plug has been wired to ford specs they can go ahead and replace the stock plug under the rear bumper, tech said that it was corroded and not sealed right short of the long new plug and no more wiring fault messages.

I had the same problem with mine and I was not towing. I had the Reese plug in connector from the back ran up to install a plug in the bed. I packed mine with water proof grease. End of problem.

i have the same problem also and it comes on when i hit the brakes i looked at the hitch connection and it still has the factory grease on the connector i never put a plugged a cord into it yet? is it just wet?
I just had the same problem with my truck. Used it to haul my flatbed on Wed., No problems, get up Thursday and every time I stepped on the brake or used my right turn signal I would get the "trailer wiring fault" message, along with the obnoxious chime.
Came on here and did some searching, read your posts and then went out and took apart my trailer connections. Imagine my surprise, when it came apart and there was water inside. Blew out all the water, put it all back together, sealed it all up and no more wiring fault.
Thanks for all your information. Easier than taking it in to the dealer and having to leave it.

Mine was doing the same thing, alarming when the right turn signal was used as well as the brakes. I took it apart only to find water inside. I dried it out and used good quality electrical tape to seal it up. I also adjusted/bent the mounting bracket up closer to and under the bumper. You would think that for as long as they have been making these types of plugs the design would be bullet proof. I guess as long as they keep trying to make parts as cheap as possible (early production MEXICAN radiators ) we will have to suffer the consequences.
