I know this has been beaten to death but I can't seem to find an answer I like. Obviously the 08 F350 needs a levelling kit but which one from who and why? What is the easist kit to put it that is the most cost effective and doesn't change the geometry of the front end too much etc. Do all kits require new shocks? or do they all come with new shocks? So people talk about the axle moving toward the left and others don't.
I just want to know what to do to get it level and not compromise ride etc.
Donahoe makes a 2.5" kit that includes new shocks, springs and alignment cam kit. You will need to get a adj track bar to recenter the axel back to the stock location. Ride will be better than stock.

Depending on your exact truck and how much difference there is between front and rear, you might be able to level the truck by simply replacing the 4" blocks in the rear suspension with 2" blocks. There is a Ford TSB that tells Ford techs how to do it. The TSB includes lots of tables with part numbers of spacers, U-bolts, shocks, and drive-shaft supports, and those tables won't copy over to the editor in this website. So if that sounds like something you'd like to do, then have your dealer or someone print out that TSB and give you a copy that includes the tables. Here it is without the tables (figures)/

ISSUE:
Some 2005-2008 F-Super Duty vehicles my exhibit a clearance concern when using the vehicle to tow some goose neck and 5th wheel trailer applications.
ACTION:
Follow the Service Procedure steps to change the rear ride height.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Rear ride height may be reduced or increased by:
Lower - vehicles that have the 4" (10 cm) spacer block by installing a new 2" (5 cm) spacer block along with the other rear suspension hardware
Raise - vehicles that are perceived as riding too low (no spacer block installed) by installing a new 2" (5 cm) spacer block along with other rear suspension hardware
LOWER VEHICLES WITH 4" (10 cm) SPACER IN PLACE
Raise vehicle on hoist and support rear axle.
Remove rear axle U-bolts and nuts.
Lower rear axle and remove 4X4 rear axle spacer blocks.
Place new spacer blocks (Figure 1) on axle and raise axle to bottom of springs, seating springs in axle seat.
Install new rear axle U-bolts and nuts (Figure 1). Torque nuts to 185 ± 28 lb-ft (250 ± 38 N-m).
Remove rear axle shock absorber bolts and nuts, and remove rear shock absorbers.
CAUTION: DO NOT OVER TORQUE SHOCK ATTACHING FASTENERS.
Install new rear shock absorbers (refer to Figure 4 and 5 for correct application). Torque both upper and lower shock nuts to 62.5 ± 9.5 N-m (46 ± 7 lb-ft).
NOTE: FAILURE TO UPDATE THE CENTER BEARING BRACKET (FIGURE 2 AND 3), IF REQUIRED, MAY RESULT IN DRIVELINE SHUDDER.
If necessary, install new center bearing and/or shim (refer to Figure 2 and 3 for correct application) assembly as required.

Adjust headlamp aim by referring to the WSM, Section 417-01.
RAISE VEHICLES WITHOUT 4" (10 CM) SPACER
Raise vehicle on hoist and support rear axle.
Remove rear axle U-bolts and nuts.
Place new spacer blocks (Figure 1) on axle and raise axle to bottom of springs, seating springs in axle seat.
Install new rear axle U-bolts and nuts (Figure 1). Torque nuts to185 ± 28 lb-ft (250 ± 38 N-m).

Replace rear axle brake jounce hose assembly with new assembly, refer to the WSM, Section 206-00.
If vehicle is equipped with a rear suspension stabilizer bar, replace rear stabilizer bar links with new stabilizer bar links. Torque stabilizer link nuts to 70 ± 15 N-m (52 ± 11 lb-ft).
Bleed rear brake system by referring to the WSM, Section 206-00.

Any "leveling" kit that messes with the front suspension could void your factory waranty. But following the TSB to lower the rear end by 2" will not void the factory warranty.
I put the 2.5" spacers on the front of my '08 along with longer shocks, had Ford check the alaignment and they said everything was fine. Hope the tech knew what he was doing. Seems to drive fine and have'nt noticed any tire wear.
Anybody else have the same thing?

Mine sits about as level as you could ask for, if it was any less level the back would sag with any sort of load. Can't you just get the heavy springs to level it out?

I put on the same thing with the same results.
I think that some of these kits sell solutions to problems that don't exist.
If a new track bar was needed, it should not be an adjustable one but one that is made specific to what was actually changed. Since it is actually not needed, they sell you and adjustable one that you then proceed to adjust back to what you had in the first place.

You could not be more wrong! No manufacturer one makes a non adj track bar ..it would be a waste of time and money as every truck is a little different. You also don't seem to understand what a track bar is for. Do you have you experience in lifting trucks "yourself"??.....Adj Track bars are not for general alignment, its for getting the Axel back to true center after a lift. ANY lift will require a adj track bar unless having the Axel off center is considered OK...which IMO its never ok. The higher the lift the more off center..maybe only a 1/4" maybe a lot.

Please explain how replacement of coils and shocks "could void your factory warranty" without violating the rule of law as per the Magnuson Moss Act. List the specific components (non wear items which are not typically covered under warranty anyway please) which could be directly affected by this change. You should also clarify your post to explain how warranty coverage is not an all or nothing contract.
Try defending a warranty denial for blown head gaskets on a 6.0 due to a leveling kit.
CaryT is right, except for having a Bronco instead of a Landcruiser. The Donahoe 2 1/2" leveling kit is great with the caster adjusting sleeves, new springs and longer shocks. I would add that you should get new rear shocks too. The stock track bar is a bit to long but I have choose to live with it. Donahoe shocks I think are Edelbrock's. I decided since the Donahoe's were on backorder to get the RCD custom Bilstiens (2 front and 2 back) and use the Donahoe springs and adjusters. I am running 35" Toyo 325/65/18's. Donahoe says that these tires are too big for the leveling kit which maybe be true if you jump your truck more than 20 feet in the air. I have been using a Donahoe leveling kit for 2 years on my previous F350 with no problems and it has been used off road. The truck looks like the way Ford should have made it to start with. It really kooks great and handles and rides great since it is as low as you can make one that works with 35's.
I really like the concept of getting the 2.5" with new springs instead of spacers, but I ordered my truck with a package that includes heavier springs than normal. Do the new DR springs have a weight rating, and if so, is it as heavy as the upgraded OEM springs?
There is no rating that I know of but they are heaver than stock. If you ordered the snow plow package then wait till you get it and see if its level or not. New shocks will make a big difference over stockers.
