2008 indash navigation

Hey wondering how people are liking the navigation that comes with the 2008 f250? How is it at finding places (poi's) and choosing routes? Would I be better off using that one or should I go aftermarket with a Pioneer, Kenwood, or something else?

The 2008 Nav unit is nice but no where near as nice as the 2009.

Adding Factory GPS Stereo

I cannot comment on the factory unit, but I installed the Kenwood DNX7100 Kenwood - DNX7100
for several reasons.
1. I have a backup camera mounted under the bumper next to the hitch for full view.
2. I have another camera mounted in the license plate frame of my Truck Camper that when connected the truck camper has a backup camera and automatically switchs to the camper camera.
3. I have Bluetooth through the truck audio system for the Cell phone when traveling solo.
4. The navigation is Garmin and is great. Very good at locations and a great mapping system with 3D.
5. All steering wheel controls work.
6. There are several other optional add-ins available that I just didn't need.

Other brands might be just as good, but the Kenwood is perfect for my needs.

So, when I ordered my Lariet I kept the radio stock then installed the Kenwood as an aftermarket at the dealer.

Hi, we have the factory nav. It gets confused getting to my house even when programming block out areas to force it to use the shortest road. The sound system includes the entertainment system for the kids, and sounds great IMHO. The nav upgrade DVD disks are $149, WOW!. I have submitted some map corrections to the NAVTEQ team, hoping my home area gets some updating. I saw the comment that the 09 system is better, have not seen it. If only the map on the nav unit could have current weather overlaid, like an iPhone Weatherbug applicaiton works.. this would be knock out system!

Hopefully the NAVTEQ link on the map update works here:

I have the AVN5500 Eclipse in-dash which came with the truck. It is a Dual DIN with a DVD and Audio disk slot. The navigation works off of a disk which is out dated. It does not give me turn by turn navigation once you get into residential areas but does show the streets and where you are going...if they are current and exist.

In all the sound system is awesome, dvd viewing is the bomb, it doesnt seem to have enough memory to process mp3 discs smoothly when there is 20+ folders on the disk which is annoying and sometimes freezes up while playing burnt dvd's

I has hookups for backup camera with auto switching, it has an external audio and video input, it can control an external cd changer, has a remote, can run my external tv's in the back.

Sound is awesome...but I would never buy this unit because of its processing capabilities and no blue tooth...maybe the newer versions are better.
