35x12.50x18 tires on stock 8" wheels ok???

hey everyone i got my truck with the stock chrome clad 17" wheels and tires and i am looking to upgrade to nicer looking wheels and bigger tires[after a lift of course]. i intend to keep the combo on all year around and since i live in NJ they pound the roads with salt and sand in the winter, and it can can really destroy aftermarket rims, i've already experienced this. so i found a bunch of factory 18" rims on ebay witch i like quite a bit, the price is nice and they'll stand up to the winter much better than aftermarket rims. but they are 8" wide, i'm looking at getting BFG KM2 tires in 35x12.50x18, bfg's website recommends 8.5"s or wider. is that quarter of an inch on each side of the wheel really gonna make much of a difference other than maybe a slight balloon look? is bfg just playing it safe by saying that? has anybody done this yet? any feed back would be very much appreciated, thanx

is it ok, yes, is it right, no. the tires will balloon, and it can cause extra wear on the center of the tire. but many people do it

im running a 325-60-20 on stock 20" rim 8" wide. there about 35.5 tall and 13.5 wide....they balloon a small bit....my buddys are running the stock 18" rim with a 35" tire. keep them properly inflated when towing and drop the pressure a bit empty ...keep them rotated front to back every other oil change and youll get a lot of miles out of them

P.S.....on my f-350 you can run that 35 " tire with just the 2.5 " level kit in the front.

With some full lift kits check first, the stock rim backspacing might be too much and you have to run a aftermarket wheel with the lift.
