I am a suspension manufacturer and have spent extensive time investigating this problem. I have heard of many Superduties having complints of a wheel hop at or around 45 mph. Stock tires to 37" tires etc. Balancing, different shock types, loads in the bed, all seem to have no effect.
I spoke to a knowledgeable tire guy recently, who told me it was in the Superduty frame. The frame seems to start flexing about the 45mph, causing an oscillation or wheel hop. I have not been able to spend any time on a CAD program to see if we can add a frame plate to add some rigidity to it.
Incidetly, any hopping or shuddering, found when taking off from a stop, is driveline related. 6" of lift seems to be the maximum for superdutys before they start being finicky with their rear driveline. Shimming the rear driveline carrier bearing will help, but on 8" of lift and more I recommend a one piece rear drive shaft. It will eliminate any and all shuddering and vibrations!
