Anyone build a Custom 2008 Excursion?

I was just wondering is anyone has married an '08 6.4L Superduty to an Excursion? I would like to see some pics.

Someone please bring back the Excursion

Would be a great company to start.......converting new model F350s into new Excursions. I live here in Texas and ever since Ford made the bad choice of stopping production, now EVERYONE wants them.

Maybe the Excursion molds are for sale? Anyone know someone working within Ford?

Was the Excursion built on one of the existing F-250 frames, or was it on a frame all its' own? If it was on a f-250 frame, then it should be pretty easy to take the body and drop it onto an '08. I am not sure how your would deal with the need to remove the cab for certain 6.4L repairs. I guess you would just have to raise the body in those same situations. That could be built into the conversion. I would think it would cost close to $20K for the conversion. That would include a body with custom interior to match the 2008 models, complete repaint, and labor for the swap. Tack that onto the price of a Lariat F250/6.4L/4x4 and you would be close to $75k. You would definitely have the biggest baddest custom SUV available. Or does GMC put the Duramax in their 2500 suburbans?

I just did a little research. You would need a 2008 Regular Cab F-250 for the frame and running gear. That model is only available as an XL. You would probably also need a 2008 F-250 CrewCab Lariat or King Ranch for the interior features and front sheet metal/grille. An you would still need a 2000-2005 Excursion. So that would put the cost closer to $90k just for vehicles. Then you have labor for swapping everything around and also paint/interior work. Probably another $25k. You would end up with a 2008 Lariat/KR Excursion, a 2008 F-250 CrewCab with partial XL interior/dash, and a 2000-2005 Regular cab truck with 2008 XL cab/bed and 2000-2005 Excursion interior.

Probably not worth the effort considering a low mileage 2005 Powerstroke would get better MPG with the less restricted 6.0. I guess you could always just facelift a 2005 model rather than trying to build a 2008 Excursion. There are probably some totalled 2008 Lariat Crews that you could get the interior from.

Hey F350Finally I think Johnny Cash made song about what your talking about. "One Piece At A Time" Wish they still made them also. Now that I have a family it would be great.

You can get a regular cab in an xlt. Really all you would need is a regular cab 2008 for the dash, frame, front sheetmetal, motor then your excursion body to put on it, and use whatever seats you like and door panels you could just buy off a dealer.

i doubt you can drop an older body on an 08 frame. I know that alot of guys have looked into swapping out from sheetmetal and its not cost effective at all. you would have a better shot of putting the 6.4 in an older frame

An extended cab shortbed and reg. cab longbed use the same frame. Either would do the trick.

I forgot all about the supercab shortbed option. That makes it much easier. You just get a 2008 SuperCab Lariat with all the options. Swap the bed and cab to the Excursion frame and resell as a pickup to recoup some funds. Put the Excursion body on the 2008 frame install the interior, and repaint the outside. I think it would cost at least $20k to do all that. That might not be too bad $75k for a 2008 Excursion. I have a 2008 Expedition EL and I can tell you. It is nothing like my 2008 SuperDuty.

I'm by no means a mechanic nor a body man. But I was thinking more along the lines of someone producing just the rear end part that could be married to a new Ford crewcab.....along the lines of taking off the bed and marrying the two. Something like American Expedition Vehicles (American Expedition Vehicles - Brute Kit, V8 HEMI, Aftermarket Jeep Conversions, Products, Wheels, Accessories and Highline Kits for Jeeps (TJ, JK, WK, XK).) where they put on a custom truck bed to a Jeep to make the Brute.

Ford has to have the molds for the Excursion rear ends lying around.

Maybe it isn't that simple like I said, I'm not a body man.

I just ordered an F350 xlt SRW reg cab. Also available in FX4. I don't know if you can get Lariat or KR reg cabs, but I do know you are not locked into a plane jane XL.
