Hi, I'm buying a slightly used 09 F350 PS DRW with a 110 gal auxiliary tank. In pictures (I haven't seen it yet, I'm in Kuwait), it looks like the switch for the tank is mounted to the right of the driver's knee area. I have no experience with the extra tanks. Would it be possible to rewire that switch to one of the upfitter switches so there's not some extra crap hanging on my dash? Thanks!

Thanks for that great idea.. I have an auxilliary tank and just asked about it. have no answer yet but I am looking forward to the outcome.

using the upfitter switch is a nice idea, but I have a tendency to turn mine on when i remove a cup or something from the cup holders under the switches. Just throwing out an experience. It could cause a problem when hooked to a fuel pump.

FF, you bring up a great point. I talked with my dealer Bobby W. today. The truck is back. he said it is mounted in such a fashion that I know where it will be but it is outta sight. It has a timer on it for the 15 minutes. I just have to reach up under the dash and wind it up. I like the idea.
For me it takes the guesswork out of ...I better check and make sure I shut it off. Also added was a fuel gauge for the auxilliary tank which sits low in the center (I think). Bobby told me but until I see it I am not really sure. I dig that idea, knowing where that tank sits so I can estimate pretty close to how far I can realistically drive or when I should fill that tank up.
One thing for sure, with this set up, I do not have a reason to ever run out of fuel.. other than both gauges breaking which is highly unlikely.
The Eclipse entertainment system should be mounted this week. Maybe Friday I could end up with a truck.. maybe Monday.. either way, it is getting close. and of course, I am getting excited.

mine is on my 3rd upfitter switch. works fine it operates my inline pump and electric valve.
Sounds pretty nice.. I figure what I never knew I will never miss. I thought about that option too. But then I figured I still have to set the timer .. and why wind that up and then throw a toggle (upfitter ) too. One more step in the process. I am sure I can bypass the timer switch but then I have one more thing to think about. This takes the guess work out of it. If I wind it up and it shuts off after pumping for 15 minutes and an extra 22.5 gallons, that is great. I have the ability to do this almost 3 times when full and miss the third full fill by 2.5 gallons.
The beauty of it for me is I can monitor the amount in the aux. tank. Again, for me it is a pretty good deal. At this point, I cannot see a disadvantage to it. Coming from nothing to this is a million % better.

Thanks for the input! I guess I have a bit to learn about the auxiliary tank. My 08 didn't have it, and this one already has it installed. I'm pretty sure that I'll get it figured out eventually.
Ive hooked up lights and a train horn to mine with no problem. just a little tricky to find the wires at first. something like a fuel pump i would put to switch one because of the higher amps.
they are on the drivers side attached to some wires tucked up in the top. you have to take off the plastic piece to see around and stick your head kinda where your pedals are. they are kinda hard to spot with so many wires up there but you can find them. https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas...tml/Q117R1.pdf

I had the same problem until I added a very small buzzer from Radio Shack. On mine, I added a normally closed electric solenoid, a fuel filter, and a electric pump, all operated from the uplifter switch on the dash.

My larger truck is a full blown Regency Conversion F-550 Hauler. It came with a 90 gallon aux tank on the bed. The tank switch over is hooked up to the upfitter switch and works great. Kept the dash nice and clean.
