started instal at 10 am......still not done by 4 pm !! the exhaust has to be lowered by about 2 inches.....a surprise. must have climbed under that darn truck 50 times......and tonite i'm sore....my 70 yr old bones cant take this stuff any more! .......the 4" hole is right on the money and the ball box is up in place...... but 2 holes aint lining up....more phartin around tomorrow i guess. .
dont tighten any bolts up all the way, until you have ALL bolts installed, leave um loose until you are ready on all of them for the final torque. as for the exhaust i hung with my body weight on the end of the pipe, well it worked for me!maybe a small bottle jack or scissor jack will bring it down a little,

Mine went pretty easy but they changed some of the attachments on the new frames of 08 trucks so maybe those new brackets are what's giving you fits.
I bought one used off of an 06 model to put on my 99. Went fairly easy like I say except I screwed up and used the 2008 and up install instructions downloaded off their website, ended up drilling the hole in the bed an inch too far to the front.
No biggie though as nothing a mig welder couldn't take care of.
well,i got it all done plus a set of timbrens........the b&w on the 08 has real tight tolerences...had to grind a flange on the lower box to slide the rear crossbar thru....took off the spare to make for easier access and the heatshield for tire. had to use spacers to lower tail pipe 2 inches...but all in all now that it is done it doesn't seem to have been too tuff...1st ones are always slower...if i was to do another one it would be a snap....cept is,i aint gonna offer .
calfroper...yea..the spacers were included....with the 2" drop at the tail end of the exhaust the spare tire rubber becomes exposed to heat so i added on 6" of sheet metal to heat shield. [just riveted on an old licence plate!]
We figure 2 hours x 2 guys to do the 08-09 super duty's. Just put in 2 on Thurs. on some F-450's. You definetly need to leave all the bolts loose until everything is together. We dont notch the beds as per directions (I dont like cutting other peoples new trucks unless absolutely needed) I loosen the back 3 bed bolts on each side and just lift the bed a bit to slide the rails in.

yea...loosening the bedbolts would have been the way to go. but i was by myself and this was my first install. p.s. i dont like the way the exhaust sits after the spacers...way too low.
I too dont like it hanging lower either. Thats why I mentioned loosening the bed bolts, so people dont have to cut on theirs. I started doing it to all that I put on after doing my own. Thats what is great about forums, sharing info. Sometimes I loosen the front bolts too, Ford often doesnt line up the bed so while I have them loose I center up the beds better.
Before I loosened the beds, I would take a large adjustable and bend it just enough to get it in and then rebend it back when done.
