Looks like parting out and retrofitting the stock FoMoCo camera is a no-go since major electrical harness's replacement is required.
Here's a proposal for the gadget guys out there.
Since video camera's all process the siginal about the same, has anyone thought of using the Ford camera and mounting bezel and wiring that into an aftermarket camera system?
Parts guy said the camera and bezel would run about $380, and the landing strip lines are a nice feature other brands lack
I like my stock backup camera which was one of the features that drew me to the 08 F250. However, I thought you might find it interesting that they failed to compensate for the slightly off center camera when they placed the landing strip lines. My #1 reason for having the camera is hitch line-up. With the lines being off center, I have to compensate and line-up the trailer just off of the center line!

Just installed this system on an 08 F350, The mirror looks identical to the stock model and it works great. Camera has LEDs and backing up in pitch black is easy. Pricey system, installs fairly easily, the mirrors instructions are not that helpful, nor are the Gentex sales people, but it is fairly easy to figure out the wiring and mounting the mirror is as easy as removing the old one and sliding on the new one.
Have a Pioneer Z2 radio and the Samsung camera and have the backing lines on there standard. Other camera have them, when I was looking, found several that did, don't remember any brands right now though.
