Fog Lights/High Beam?

Sorry I did a search but could not find the answer. Does anybody know if there is a mod to keep the fog lights on with the high beams. I had done this in my 02 I think it was called the steveracer mod. Does one exist for the 08's?

I have been looking to see how to do this as well. On my GMC it was easy as all I had to do was to bridge some relays. I cant even find any relays for the lights...

Do a search on "bright box". That is the name of the company that makes the relays, easy to install. I ordered it right from the manufacturer.

on the 2004 F-150 i had, all you had to do was pop the switch out. On the back of the switch you took the wife for the fog lights, and tapped the wire for the running lights into it. this turns your fog lights on, whenever your running lights are on. It does this by sending voltage to the relay for the fog lights. ITs pretty simple to do. here is a pic of my lightning's switch.

you can see i just took a scotch connector and jumpered the wires

if anyone has the schematics for the switch it would be easy.

another thing to do is pull the switch and measure voltage on the wires in different switch settings

I had the mod done on my 2003 F350 that let the fogs stay on with the high beams. If I recall, isnt the brite box highs, lows, and fogs >> didnt this cause some wiring harness issues?

My brother has that mod done on his Dmax (highs, lows, and fogs!). I have driven both and here is what I have found. I have made many miles as my family owned a trucking company and I lived in a truck for 6 years doing long distance hauling so I think the info should be credible.

Driving stock with fog lights on has the eyes making a transition when changing from low <> high. One way, the light in front of the vehicle goes away on you when changing to high beams, and there is a brightening of sorts going the other way.

When the fogs stay on with highs and lows, the light in front of the vehicle remains constant, just reaching out further on highs. My eyes were relaxed with this and even with upgraded fog light bulbs, the oncoming traffic was okay with it if they were set a bit low.

Now on the Dmax with everything lit up, it was awesome when driving in areas with wildlife along the road - you could see the eyes very well. However, when going to dim, I found the reduction of all that light to be too drastic and it seemed dark to me.

I hope this helps shed some light.
On these newer trucks, cant the mod be done like on the older ones to just have the fogs stay on with highs? If not, I will be wiring them into one of my upfitters and regaining control. Will look at a diode setup (if thats the right item?) that will allow the system to remain as built it, just push some juice to the fogs when you want them to stay on.
FYI - my 2003 was a truck with DRL's and the mod worked just fine!

On the previous years, all you had to do was remove the under dash fuse box and ground one wire.

Has anyone tried this yet?

Anyone know if this can be done via the same path as the last model years? As in, simply grounding a wire under the dash?

I just got my new truck two days ago, so I haven't had much of a chance yet to see if it's similar to the '03-'07 models.

I am also interested to see if this mod will work like it did on my 2003.

The mod that I bought off of EBAy should work on all trucks with the dual element high beam...it uses the hot wire from the high beam to maintain the fogs energized....

I know the wiring harnesses that you can buy will do it, along with the highbeams as well, but this was a 'free' mod that could be done in all of about 15 minutes.

I'll try and take a look at it this weekend...

i uploaded the schematics for the headlight switch. The way i did it on my lightning is the way i would do it on here. Tie the foglight wire into the running lights wire. than, anytime the running lights are on, the fog lights are on.
But, if you want to tie the highs into them, you can do that too.
