Kit & Interface = $270.31 delivered to me & the install labor will be $300. Local Ford dealer wanted almost $600 just for labor. This guy installs for them and charges $300. They are not even doing the work and make almost $300.

I would kill for 30 seconds!!!! Usually by the time I walk to the truck from the store, I can open the door, get in and put the key in before it starts.
I had to reschedule my 6 button remote start install for next Wednesday the 18th. The reason is Ford deleted a wire in 2009 that was present in 2008 to disarm the alarm when the door unlock button is pushed after using the remote start. This is why they say you can only install the single button remote start. Apparently this signal is done in 2009 by an RF signal in your factory key fobs since there is no wire in the truck harness for it. If you do not have the factory alarm in 09 then the six button will work without the addition of another part. The guy installing my remote start system found this out by calling Audiovox and the Ford tech line. Being a licensed installer he was able to get this information. He checked with his network of installers and verified a way around this from installers who have done this and know it works. He ordered a delay of some type for the door trigger switch to fool the alarm. Not sure who makes the part or the part number only that it is an aftermarket not OEM Ford part and will allow the 6 button system to work with the factory alarm. I will try and get this information from him after the install when I pickup my truck. I will post results when finished.

Any information would be awesome! I just bought a slightly used 09 F350 with this system, and it sets the alarm off when you unlock the truck. Apparently the installing dealership did not know this information. I need to stop that. Pretty annoying.

I have been thinking of adding a remote start to my 08 F250. What would be the Ford part numbers I would need? I currently have a key fob that unlocks the door and a key pad on the dirvers door. I don't want two key fobs, and from what I can tell from reading this thread, I should consider the six button remote start. Other than starting, what else can be done? The short description on the ford website states cool/heat the vehicle. How does the remote start accomplish this....do you have to have the heater/defrost on prior to turning off the engine, and then when you remote start it fires up the heater/defrost because that is the mode it was in prior to turning off the engine? How about turning on the heated seats.....can a remote start do that as well. Basically I am hoping that adding a remote start will warm the vehicle, defrost the windsheild and perhaps turn on my heated seats for those cold mornings in the NW.

You shouldn't have any problem on a 2008, it's the 2009 where there are issues. How you heat/cool depends on what HVAC you have in the truck. The auto climate control works best since it maintains your temperature set point and will adjust itself as necessary. If you have the PTC aux heater you're in even better shape for quick interior warmups. The six button remote has two aux buttons that can be used for other functions like power sliders on a minivan and could be used for heated seat control.
Thanks WP6529, so 7L3Z-19G364-AA = Remote Start & 8L3Z-19G365-BA = 2009 Interface kit referenced above works for an 08? I do have the auto climate control, but I do not know if I have a PTC aux heater. How do I confirm that. When I bought the truck in 4/09, I remember seeing some trucks listed as having a supplement heater. My sticker did not show that item. I am gussing that the supplement heater is what you are referring to with PTC aux heater. In any event, sounds like the remote 6 button start will do what I want. Headed to the dealer today to see what the cost and install will run. Thanks.
8L3Z-19G365-BA is the Securilock interface kit, needed if you have the chip keys.
The PTC supplemental heater is an option, and requires the heavy duty 200A alternator or dual alternator options as well. It's a supplemental electric heater to get you heat right away before the engine warms up. My truck has it, but I haven't had any cold weather to test it with yet.
Ok, went to the Ford dealer yesterday and apparently there are several options. The dealer gave me the part numbers to review on ford.com. I can't tell from the description whether or not the Remote Start, With Keyless Entry & Alarm Part Number: 7L3Z-19G364-AA has the bi-directional feature that tells you if the engine fires up (remote has a light that blicks and cherps). Anyone know if the 7L3Z-19G364-AA has this feature. also the Remote Start, Bi-Directional, Part Number: 9C3Z-19G364-A, does not have a picute of the remote, so does it have the 6 button remote?
Remote Start, Bi-Directional
Part Number: 9C3Z-19G364-A
The ultimate convenience. With Ford’s newest remote start system, there is no need to see the vehicle to know that it has started. Simply press the start button and when the engine starts up, the button flashes green and the keyfob beeps to confirm. The system features Real Panic Sound®, Progressive Car Find and can start/stop the engine from up to 1000'. Includes One Bi-Directional Keyfob. Dealer installation recommended. NOTE: For automatic transmissions only. Does not include PATS Interface Kit.
Fits:
Ford F-250 and F-350 2010 2009 2008 2007
or
Remote Start, With Keyless Entry & Alarm
Part Number: 7L3Z-19G364-AA
Enjoy the comfort and convenience of a pre-warmed or pre-cooled vehicle. Remote Start with Keyless Entry and Vehicle Security has a perimeter alarm, Progressive Car Find, plus a six-button key fob for start/stop, panic, lock, unlock, and up to two programmable buttons. Remote Start PATS Interface kit (sold separately) required for most applications. Dealer installation recommended. NOTE: Automatic transmissions only. Remote Start with Keyless Entry and Vehicle Security may be eligible for insurance discounts in some states/provinces.
Fits:
Ford F-250 and F-350 2008 2007
The information on the Ford accessories site for the remote starts is very sparse, the pdf accessories catalog has slightly more information.
As far as I'm aware, the bi-directional remote start is a one button remote that only does remote start, meaning you'd still need your other RKE remote for the door locks, etc.
The one-way remote start is the one with the six button remote that will take the place of your regular RKE remote as well as adding the remote start and the aux buttons for other uses.

Randy, any news on this? I just picked up my 09 from the dealership and they're telling my that the only option is to uninstall that system. I'd rather go with the workaround if possible. Can I get the number to your installer, and/or if you have all the info to post here. Thanks!
David

Relay part number for the 09 to work with the 6 button system is YL3Z-19G390-AA. I will scan and get the personal preference programming ASAP. My truck will start within 7 seconds of getting the confirmation beep after the button is pushed. Ford must have modified the delay in 09 to more match the glow plug warm up time. He also wired my seat heater through a switch so when it is remote started the heater comes on and stays on until you insert the key and turn to on or step on the brake pedal. It will then revert back to normal dash button power mode.
More to come
Randy

That link doesn't seem to be working. I certainly appreciate all the info folks have been coming up with, I should be getting to work on my install sometime after Dec 14th when work goes on end of year lockdown and things get quiet.
