I have the factory camera and have two projects I'd like to do, '08 F350 Longbed.
First I would like to put a camera on the back of the 5th wheel camper and connect it to the factory connector at the tailgate. What is needed for this?
Second, I need to put a Tommy Lift Tailgate on the truck and put a camera on the Tommy lift tailgate or on the license plate and connect it to the factory wiring. I guess this question is similar to the camper install.
Sad thing to do when I have the tailgate with the camera and step which is pretty neat, but I need to be able to put heavy objects in the bed by myself.
give me the tailgate with the camera and all lol, then go on ebay and buy a license plate mounted camera, they both run on a RCA cable and 12V so just hook up the new camera to the existing wire and wala it should work.
I don't have the camera or i would go look at the truck and see how it hooks up but i believe if you remove the tailgate there is a plug that you unplug to so you can take the tailgate off, so you can go to the dealer and purchase the wiring harness for the tailgate and hook that up to to new camera i hope that makes sense, give you local stealer (dealer) a try. they have diagrams for the truck. and will tell you if it can be done.
There is a 5 wire plug for the tailgate removal, no coax or RCA plug. I would have to take the tailgate apart to look at the stuff inside & I'd rather avoid that.
Is there a wiring diagram available online?
It's a neat tailgate with the camera and tailgate step but it'll be up for sale when I figure out what it is worth.
