I have an 09 King Ranch that has absolutley everything.....except Navigation. I really wanted it but the dealer could not find one like the one I have with Navigation. So could I just buy the Factory Navigation and install it in mine and everything plug and play? I need everything to work...sync, audiophile system, Sirius, steering wheel controls....everything. I want it just like I bought it from the factory with Navigation. Also does the back up camera still come up in the mirror if the vehicle comes with Navigation? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The short answer is no... it's not just plug and play. There is a guy who has done it over on powerstroke.org The wheel control are different as well as some of the harnesses. He had to mod his wheel controls and came up with a splitter for the backup camera. I'm in the same situation as you and after looking into it I'm not up to the task or the $$. He is still having trouble coming up with some of the factory parts. Go over to powerstroke and send user geabis a pm or search his posts. He sent me a lot of detailed info on what it takes. Very helpful.
Curiously, was your truck slated for a buyer in Ca and maybe re-routed? That sounds oh to familiar as my truck will also be as loaded as a KR F-450 can be minus the Nav due to Ca emissions. Could Tx be taking the following the example set by Ca? nah, they cannot be that socialist.
I have posted this prior to your thread. This will also come up in the 2011 as I have been told by a source much closer to the new beast than I. Auto idle emissions shutdown minus the NAV. I considered holding out for it and the 6.7L.
Out here in beautiful Ca the emissions conscious auto idle shut off (nor the back up camera on the screen) will not work in conjunction with the Nav. A wire loom issue is what the verdict is. Every time I write this it makes less sense than the last time I did it but oh well.
Here is a positive. I am told the rearview mirror still has the runway back up system which is in the tailgate?
The answer is the work solutions application available with the Garmin nav. It is Ford product and has some pretty cool features in its own right. I just don't think I will need or be using all those features. More to come.

We have the navigation in our 2008 and it is not nearly as good as our Garmin. THere are very few POI's and we have had the truck over a year and they still don't have an update DVD for it. Also, it's not very user friendly and we just use our Garmin 465T which lets us use the truck mode and put in all the dimensions for our truck and 5th wheel trailer and we are good to go. Keeps us on good roads, no low clearance problems, etc.

I will disagree on how useful the Nav is--especially when tied in with Sirius. I can even get fuel prices nearby and a radar screen on current rain/storm conditions. Not having any probs with POIs either. Haven't figured out yet what all it WILL do. I think there is a world of difference between the '08 and '09 Nav units. Jan '09 build date.

You can buy the 2009 Nav unit from OEM upgrades. It is basically plug and play. May have to get the head unit programmed from the dealer to work with your options. Also a Ford Lockpic will unlock the backup camera any time, able to Nav while driving and other things.

I went with the newest version of the Eclipse entertainment nav system. Has everything the OEM has and a few more advantages like the tilt screen, the full time camera, the three ports for different devices..Ipod, BB, and I phone, and to beat all, a 3 year warranty. It will also allow a second and third camera install for truck bed fifthwhel/goosneck hitch, a rear receiver ,and one for behind the fifthwheel for toading a Jeep.
I will learn more today when I pick the truck up.

Ya its a pain and really expensive. I would recommend getting a double din unit like alpine or kenwood. I paid about a grand for alpine IVA-w505 and everything works great, bigger screen with better resolution than stock. bluetooth, sirius, etc.
Im not familiar with sync, but if it is some sort of bluetooth than most aftermarket units are capable of that. Also yes they can tie into your steering wheel controls. I think most of the new aftermarket units are far more advanced than anything oem.
