I just purchased a 2008 F-250 FX4 and I'm planning on lifting it w/in the next few months. I traded in a 2003 F-250 w/an 8" Fabtech Coil-over conversion kit on it and I did not like the ride. I do not want to go too high on the new truck. I've been seeing alot of Donahoe Racing 4.5" kits on the 08's w/37" tires. Are there any issues w/clearance? When off-roading do the tires rub on the wheel well?? My 38" tires would hit my wheel wells when off-roading and that was with an 8" lift. What lift kits are you guys using and how's the ride??
P.S.
I'm looking at the followin kits:
1) 6" ProComp Double XX
2) 6" Rize Kit w/King Reservoir Shocks
3) 4.5" Donahoe Racing
With any of the kits above I will be going w/37x13.5x20 Toyo Open Country MT's and 20" wheels.
Please help w/you feedback. I posted a pic of my new truck below.

I to am looking to lift my truck alittle. I have an 08 F350 FX4. I would like the same info. Mine is a daily driver, so I don't want a huge lift and I want to make sure I don't have any rub issues with tires.
I got a price quote for a fabtech 6 inch coil over shock lift and Nitto 35 inch tires and rockstar rims. I thought 9500.00 was a little nuts. So did the wife. I never saw her do a regen before, but she did when I asked it I could buy it.
This will be my first lifted truck, so do you lose alot of ride quality when you lift a truck and how bad are you hurting the original parts on the truck?
my truck
Wow, $9500 is a lot. I did an 8 in Fabtech with dual 2.5 reservoir shocks up front and 2.5 in the rear. Added the 18 wheels and 37 in Toyo MTs for less than $6K here in So Cal.

I'm pretty happy with my lift. I went with the 8" Fabtech basic lift and the only thing that really change ride wise is the rear is a bit stiff like my '04 F350 was stock and a slight shimmer in the steering wheel, which is my fault as I haven't put in my dual stabilizers up front yet. Front end bounces a bit more than before but that's because I have the standard Fabtech shocks in there. I'll go with Bilsteins once I figure out the right ones to get.
Hey folks. this may not help at all but i just ordered the 4.5 DR lift from www.sdhq.com. it was about 2300 shipped with the dual DR steering stabilizer and the drop down brackets because mine is manual (custom ordered for a stick). I also ordered 22in KMC XD-795 HOSS rims with 35in toyo AT's from www.rim-zone.com for 3050.00 shipped. Rim zone is awesome and great prices. My truck is an 08 cc diesel lariat white and gold. Ill post picks next week once done. Every one i talk to says that DR is worth the extra money because of the fantastic ride. But the 22 wheels with 35's may make it a lil bouncy.
We have lifted a number of '08s with DR 4.5" on 37s at the insistence of customers. IMO they would work better with 35s under the 4.5" system but we have not heard feedback on any rubbing issues. The critical issue is that the rear springs are on considerable angle (relative to the chassis) so the more lift block added, the further back the axle is shifted. However the angle of the spring is designed to offset spring deflection so the axle has very little if any rearward movement under compression. Here is an example of a DR 4.5" on 37s
We also offer Rize systems which address the rear in three manners. First would be a special 3 leaf spring pack and block combination. The second is replacement rear springs. And the third would be OUO Traction Blocks. Each of these systems have their own advantage and all offset the center pins to properly center the tire within the wheelwell. Here are some examples:
If you want to run 37s and have the ability to take the truck off-road without rubbing issues I would suggest at least a 6" system. In terms of ride quality I believe you will be very pleased with either the DR or Rize systems. These systems are very plush.
Let me know if you have any questions.

I don't wish to come across as bashing anyone so suffice to say that on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the best) I would rate the ProComp somewhere between 1 to 2 depending on how it is configured. Great wheel & tire combo though.

All I can tell you is stay away from Pro-Comp lifts, I would get the toyo mt's they are the best tire out there, as for rims check out the Helo maxx 8's.

Hey iamvillani,
Is DR doing the custom work for you? I have an '08 with a 6 speed too and I heard that the kit would need to be moded but I didn't know who I'd get to do it. Are they still giving you the full waranty on it too?
Thanks,
John

We have installed DR kits are a couple of '05+ manual trucks (In fact SDHQ had DR call us to see how we did it). Yes, the radius arm backets must be modified but it can be done.
