Monitor only with EGT - Diesel Forum

I have been researching performance monitors for my 08 6.4 PS. One of my priorities is EGT and it is not clear to me if the 6.4 already has this data on the OBD II port or if I will have to install the thermocouple. If the thermocouple is required, is there any chance that there is already a port or is drilling and tapping required?

I like what I have seen in the MSD DashHawk, the Edge Insight, and the Quadzilla Commander. At this point, I do not have the budget or nerve to start reprogramming/modifying this motor so I am not planning to do a programmer. However, I have to ask, am I reading it right that the Edge Insight is ~ $300 and the Edge Evolution programmer (and monitor) is ~$480? Balls or not, that sure makes it hard not to buy the whole set-up at the start.

Finally, I have seen pictures of the Edge and MSD installed in a very clean mounting pod above the dash vent. Where can I get this?

The Edge Insight shows EGT's and regens with no extra hookups, just plug her in and go. It's great gauge!

Yes, the Insight reads the factory EGT, all 4 actually. Plus lots of other stuff. I got my Insight and pod here Edge Products Insight Monitoring Gauge System - 83400 . They were the cheapest at the time (probably still are) and quick shipping. 5 minute install.

As you can see in pic, I am looking at EGT, Tranny Temp, Coolant temp and Engine oil temp.

For what it's worth.......I picked up my Edge Insight and Dash POD from a guy on ebay. 279.99Insight and 40.00 for POD free shipping on Insight 5.00 for POD. 324.00 +/- for the whole setup. Can't wait to get it installed.

Watch for anyone selling below the 299 price, you may not get warranty from Edge if something goes wrong. Price is set at 299.

I totally understand dfuser. I've been very lucky with all my EBAY purchase's. I've bought and sold over 1500 items off EBAY. There are several sellers that do not sell items with warrantys so a guy does need to watch for that.
This particular seller has over 2000 sells on EBAY and all feedback has been good. And this item does come with a EDGE warranty.
Just a little info for the guys out there, looking a little deeper on the net might save you some money. You can't always count out Ebay.

Well I got my Edge Insight. Full warranty, packaged great, and it came it 2 days. Now to install it tomorrow. Great bargain, saved over $25.00 from the local sellers here.

I installed the Bully Dog PMT and it will read all the sensors from the factory through the OBDII port. It is a very attractive color touch screen with guages and you can contol the transmission shift points from Stock, Smooth, Agressive. I love it...and the power increase is amazing on "Extreme" setting. Very happy with the product.
