ended up doing a few more things to the 08 - i painted the factory fender vent inserts dark shadow gray to match the bottom 2-tone, put chrome bulbs in the turn signal housings in the headlights (still light up amber), and installed a dual steering stabilizer from pro comp. i also installed some lights in the bed of the truck and extra reverse lights (ala bear hunter) which are hooked up to the upfitter switches, and got a line-x bedliner sprayed in , but i dont have pics of the last three mods.

I like your vent color change idea -- what kind of paint and prep did you use? My forest green/gold accent has been built and shipped; it should arrive within the next week. I'm thinking the red grids will look kinda whacked up against the green (at least after Christmas!), so I wonder how modding its vent to match the gold trim might look. Might have to play in photoshop before I start spraying .

metallic gray > flat black. just looks like gasser vents from 50 ft or when theres no light on the truck.
prep was easy. washed them down with dawn soap, used a compressor to blow all the air off. then used a scotchbrite pad to scuff them up, cut a piece to get in all the little nooks and crannies. (all paints used were aerosols) then used an adhesion promoter, followed by the color, which i had custom mixed, followed by the clear. i didnt sand in between coats, or after the clear. i just followed the directions on the cans and went from there.
