It's an easy install. The worst part is tracing the wire for the VSS (if equipped). It took me longer to determine where to place the mike and GPS antenna than to do the actual install.

Go here for all the info you'd even want on the Avic series:

Agreed- lots of sifting thru the crap to find the info needed (like the hardware bypass, beep delete, etc), but it's nice to have somebody else be the guinea pig for stuff like this.

The hardware bypass is a must. I grounded both wires to the same ground that comes in the ford to pioneer harness. Nice and Clean that way. I bought and installed one of the larger knobs, its nice.

I put mine in the middle of the front dash close to the windshield. Ran wire down from the defrost vent to the HU. No metal for the magnet, velcro did the trick. It's also a good spot for the SAT radio if you don't use the factory antenna.

I put mine in the same spot pretty much. Right next to the little light sensor that is on the dash.

On the F-250, the GPS antenna is under the cowl next to the wipers.

On the Ex, the antenna is under the dash- I put the self-sticking metal backing plate on the vent ducting behind the radio.

Both locations work great.

Nope. Install is fairly straight forward.
