Possible new owner questions on mods and warranty?

You guys have some nice looking trucks. I noticed a lot of them are 08's so how do you get around warranties when you lift them or put tuners on them and all that stuff? Just asking because if I get one I might want to do some of the same stuff, but I would hate to mess up my warranty at the same time.

Maybe I just need to make more $$$$ and pay for things out of pocket if I break something

It is the good old saying "If you want to play, be prepared to pay" A lot of different mods might not be looked at by some dealers as something to void or cause problems with warranties but they are few and far between. The best thing to do is go to the dealer that you might be taking your truck to and ask the service manager how they handle it. You might not like their answers.

I had the same question and I found that the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Protection Act prevents any manufacturer from voiding your warranty merely because an aftermarket product was installed, and they have to prove that the after market part was the cause of the issue.

The "Magnuson-Moss Warranty Protection Act" does not protect against lifts, bigger tires, or programmers. It is there so that you do not have to use Ford manufactured parts for replacement items such as oil and fuel filters, and replacement parts that are damaged or wore out. Any performance parts are outside the act.

Give it up....... "Magnuson-Moss Warranty Protection Act" is not going to do jack for you if Ford wants to void your warranty. You put a tunner on your truck your warranty is toast.
As finicky as these new trucks are I won't even think of a tunner on my new 08'.
My 06' Dodge with the 5.9 Cummins, well that is a different story. I do have a tunner on that engine. And I only did it because that engine has shown it can hang with upgrades. I wouldn't do it on the new 08' Ford or a Dodge.

Thanks for the information guys and I already knew about that moss act but I really wouldn't want to go round and round with a dealer arguing about who's covering what.

Well I guess if I move forward with the purchase and want to do some mods it will be as the one poster said "You have to pay to Play"
