Projector Headlights & LED Taillights Install

First time poster here.

After spending time looking at HIDs and Projector recommendations here, I decided to install a set of projectors on my 2008 King Ranch.

Like other posters, I was not crazy about the stock headlights with the turn signal on top and the headlight on the bottom. Same thing with the tallights. Really did not like the stock reverse lights on the top.

I installed a set of Spec-D Tuning's headlights and Recon's clear LED taillights. The halo rings and the eyebrows on these headlights are not very bright but the projectors throw quite a beam. I did look at a set of projectors that used CCFL halos that were considerably brighter but they used the stock headlight-on-bottom form factor that I did not like in the first place.

What do you think?

Looks good. How much work was involved for the headlights?

Installing the headlights was not too bad actually. Be aware that there are no instructions included with the lights though.

The parking lamp and the turn signal lamps are reused from the stock lights. They simply twist in to the projector housing as is. The headlight connector is all that is reused and it is plugged in to the back of the projectors without modification as well.

I did have to do some wiring for the halos, the three front LEDs and the eyebrow LED though. There are 3 whites and 3 blacks wires to connect. I soldered the wires together and soldered on a quick disconnect. I then connected the LEDs wires to the ground and +12V leads to the parking lights with a snap-on quick connector.

It took about an hour to do all the work.

Looks cool, gives the front end that Transformers kinda look.

Any pics of the light pattern they throw out. I hate the high beams on mine, they don't project all that well.

How about more pics. and what did you pay for them?
I think the black ones would look sick on my silver truck.

Here are a couple of more pictures. I'll have to go out at night and see if I can get one of the beam pattern to work.

I paid $289 for the headlights. Do a Google for "08 F250 Ford projector headlight" and there are several vendors.

Seems there are two versions of these headlights. The one with the CCFL halos are more expensive than these. I found one vendor had these on back order and another had them in stock. I found projector headlights running from $275to $453. It also pays to call and check stock before ordering.

One other light swap I forgot to mention is the turn signals on the mirrors. Those big yellow lenses on the black mirrors were another thing I did not like about the stock set up.

I swapped the yellows with Recon smoke LEDs. Here is what they look like.

Hi Bill. Your new lights look great. What is the purpose of the "halos" and the LEDs in the housing? You said you wired them to the parking lights. Does that mean they're supposed to activate "for effect" if one wants to drive with just the parking lights on?

Also, one of the vendors I found says you can add HID bulbs to the kit. Did you research this option as well?

Mike

The halos and the eyebrow LEDs are strictly for effect. They look cool but that's about it.

Regarding the HIDs... there is a warning sticker on the top of the housing that says "HID bulb not allowed" I suspect that the plastic can't take the heat. Frankly, the projector throws quite a lot more light than the stock lamps so HIDs were not a consideration for me.
