Question for guys with aftermarket rims

What are you doing about the tpms things when you put on different rims? My truck is coming with the 18s and I have 20s ordered, what do I do about them?

The sensors can be transfered to the new wheels. It will require a new set of 20" bands which can be purchased from the dealer for $150 - $200 a set.

Your new tires could also pose a potential problem depending on what PSI they need. If they need less PSI then the factory tires you will be stuck with a low pressure warning as the TPMS system is non-adjustable.

Basically, aftermarket wheels/tires and TPMS is a pain...

The fob is only used during tire rotation when the front and rears have different pressure requirements fromt the factory. The only thing the fob does is tell the SJB the location of the tire on the vehicle.

The fob has no control over changing TPMS pressure set points...

Go here: eBay Motors: FORD GM DODGE TPMS AIR PRESSURE SENSOR STRAPS TO 26" (item 290234600112 end time Jun-01-08 11:13:50 PDT) and purchase them at a fraction of the cost from ford, and they are reusable. I used these when i put different 18"s on my truck and worked great. $70 and your done, opposed to ford's $50/wheel!!!

I've been through this. Yes you need new straps. YES, you will need to run an "E" rated tire if it says it on the door. You must run the ame tire pressure that is stamped on the truck por you will have the tpsm light on all the time. I had to have e rated tire put on that can run 65psi all the time.

you can run 50 in the front though and no light . I think when you rotate tires and use the clicker they provide to reset the system you can go with a lower PSI
