Roof Clearance Lights - Diesel Forum

Anyone here ever install the factory clearance lights before? I know it's been done quite a bit on the ford excursions website.

I know there is a specific harness and lights, - parts cost is only $90, but measuring out and drilling into sheet metal (especially the roof) has got me queezy...

I did it on the new truck. It's not hard just takes time to measure it all out twice and then again for good measure! There's some good links around, just do a search. This is the primary one I used Motoman's Madness

I actually contacted my dealer about this. I had it done last Wednesday. They have a Ford Authorized Installer come out and do it. All said and done and warranteed for $250. Only took a couple hours and looks great too!

Twix... if that's including parts that's a terrific price!! I asked 2 dealers and they wanted 6-8 hrs labor, at shop rates, plus parts! I wasn't about to pay that!

DXProwler, yep thats everything! $250 = parts, labor, and done by Ford. You're only 3 hours away from me, swing down for a weekend in the US and get it done! My dealer is VanBortel Ford in Victor NY.

Twix... tnx for the offer but I already did it myself. It wasn't hard just time consuming with measuring and making holes. I'm happy with the outcome as you wouldn't be able to tell the difference if it was parked beside a factory install.

Actually I compared 3 new trucks side by side at a dealer a few weeks ago and they all looked like they lined up a bit different. I was comparing the mirror placement with the center cab light so figure there might be some variance with the mirror placement? You would think the mirror would be dead center but it doesn't appear to be.

Again that's a really good price and tnx!!

I know yall are a little to far from VA to have work done, but I had my aftermarket shop install some cab light for about $120. I also had them go with the smoked lenses w/ amber bulbs. They match my black truck a little better.
