I'd get to a Ford Truck Dealer and get your order placed if you want a 2009 in any reasonable period of time. A Ford Employee reported that production of 2009s will start in about two weeks, with Job 1 a limited production run that will only last a couple of months. My guess is that if you miss the Job 1 run, you may have a long wait, as there is little reason to beleive that Ford won't once again shut down production for an indeterminate time.
Ford isn't making it easy for any potential 2009 truck customers, in fact, they seem bent on driving them away, by slow release of ordering guide, lack of pricing, and lack of scheduling info for 2009 trucks. The ordering guides have been out for a couple of months, but apparently only dealers have access to any pricing info. Ford isn't releasing any info whatsoever on production scheduling. My guess is that potential truck buyers are abandoning Ford at an increasing rate, not becuase of the price of fuel, but because of the indifferent attitude at Ford towards those who actually want to buy a Ford Truck.
I ordered a 2009 F-450 about 5 weeks ago, and even my truck dealer doesn't seem to be able to get any info on what is going on at Ford. I check this forum and the Blue Oval Forum daily for any news, and even the reports from Ford employees are contradictory at best.
Thanks to Ford Employees who are helping by providing some visibility as to whats happening at Ford's KTP plant where Superdutys are being made.
