The F-450 pickup is a good fit for some folks in their need for a heavy-duty hauler and towing machine. But right now it comes only as a CrewCab with an 8-foot pickup bed, and even the XL trim package includes aluminum wheels, so it's not a low-cost pickup. The F-450 chassis cab has more options for cab-to-axle measurement, weight capacity and rear axle ratio, and it's available in regular cab and SuperCab as well as CrewCab.
The F-350 SRW and DRW are available as chassis cabs as well as pickups. And the heavy-hauler F-550 is available only as a chassis cab.
If you are considering ordering a new chassis cab truck, then having it upfitted into an RV hauler, or gooseneck trailer hauler, you'll need a tow body or flatbed or platform bed upfitted to the naked chassis.
