when I buy a rig in CA for my OR based Delaware corporation how to deal with the CA sales tax? Can I buy without or do I need to pay and get it back somehow?
Thanks, Jim

Isn't sales tax in Calif. vehicles sales based on COUNTY of registration? Some counties have a higher sales tax rate for "special" funds like BART and such. If your going to register the vehicle in OR. It shouldn't matter, right

You can purchase a vehicle in CA, and not deal with the CA sales tax.
When you purchase the vehicle, just tell the F&I manager that you want a trip permit. The permit (used to be about $15) will allow you to take the vehicle on a one way trip out of state.

That's correct....
Two ways you can go from being out of state. One is have the Finance figure what the sales tax is for Oregon or pay it at the DMV when you return w/ the truck.

this has been the key reason that over 10 years in the military i have kept my address there. all my vehicles are registered there. I have no emissions, no inspections, $54 every 2 years for tabs, and i dont pay sales tax on my rigs.

If the vehicle is not going to be registered in California you can opt to get a 1 way trip permit ($17). If you do not want to pay California sales tax then you will need to take delivery OUTSIDE of California.
I have several customers located in AZ & NV. Being that sales tax is about the same, 7.75%, and you only pay sales tax once, they normally go ahead and include the sales tax into the deal for financing and we put a one way trip permit in the window and they register the vehicle when they get home.
Very simple process. Being that you plan to register it in OR you would want to setup a state line delivery
Hm, just by chance I am near Bobby upcoming Saturday. My Oregon friend is with my. Still not sure if I should jump the fence for a new King Ranch V10...
Hm, as Bobby was off Saturday I wasn't able to meet him so I left. Any idea if I need to hurry up to get a V10 before the new engine is coming? Thanks.

I would think that the V-10 will be here for awhile. Have you heard that they're going to drop it? I don't think the Scorpion (diesel) is due out for another year.
