How long to assign a VIN??? - Diesel Forum

I know it's a waiting game, but I feel like my dealer doesn't know what is going on.

Left my order with dealership 17 Feb. Was told the order was picked up by Ford on the 21st. Shouldn't a VIN be assigned by now? Or could Ford just be sitting on the order until and will start work on it in a few weeks????

You all were right! This wait sucks!!!

Placed mine on the 8th of February and i asked yesterday if they have a vin yet.

Your dealer should be able to call Ford's Vehicle Order Processing Center (VOPC) and get the VIN after about two weeks. My dealer didn't have a clue, so I did this:

Once you get your VIN, then do this:

MDarrough - I thought I remembered a page with the number to call and get an update on your own. I had all the info but the correct order number. When I called my dealer to get my order he called me back with even more info!

My truck has a VIN and dealer said the ETA to the dealership in NOVA is the week of 10 March!!

Just posted on BOF to get an updated tracking, so we'll see how accurate that really is. If so I think it's gotta be some kind of record for delivery of an order.

Now I just have to pray they keep the 0% going next month!!

AZ64PSD - Try the second link in MDarrough's post. YOu can get all that info from your order confirmation paperwork and or your dealer. They way you'll know if they've even submitted your order!

ffxhub- My truck has a Vin now too!! It will be her on March 17. I just joined the BOF and will have Mr Viper track her down for me.

Yeah I was checking the site and saw your post, then saw that my post had been pushed to the second page......

Hopefully the new Ford incentives will be released tomorrow so I can see what we'll be working with.

Just venting a little here, but tracked my truck to the train depot. Truck was unloaded this evening, but when I call my dealer they said their tracking info says it's still over 8 hours away on the train.

Don't want to pester them but it's killing me to know the truck is sitting at the train depot 50 miles away and the dealer doesn't even know!

Guess I'll try calling in the morning and letting them know. Each time I am able to give them updated info on the status of my truck they seem surprised that I have more up-to-date info then them!

Wife says I'm psycho, but come on, I want my new truck

You should go down there and pick it up. That would suprise your dealer.

Then tell then you want the destination fee to be paid to you

My dealer was shocked when i gave them the VIN before they could even get it.
Then today, I walked in and gave them a copy of the window sticker. They asked how i got it, and told them i am a related to the Ford family.

I told them I would track the train and when the truck shows up i will be there to watch them unload it. It was priceless.

Take your VIN to BlueOvalForums and they'll be able to help you out. Be sure to read the rules for posting found at this link - 2008 Vehicle Order Tracking - Blue Oval Forums

Then you can make a post with your VIN and they'll track the truck for you.

well by looking at your vin, your getting a 4x4 dually. We ordered 2 powestrokes in 2000. 2001 models when I got the vin's one started with a #1 and the other started with #3 ( any vin that starts with a 3 means made in mexico, 2 is canada) to make a long story short all of my trucks vin's start with the #1, so beware buy american

We'll looks like I bought American then as mine starts with a 1. If I am not mistaken it is made in Kansas.
