Well, the 2009 F-150s really seem to be fantastic on all levels, but the new REAL WORLD payloads don't cut it for my travel trailer. In fact, my 2008 Supercrew has me running over the payload due to tongue weight now, so I'm going to most likely have to look at Super Duties again. Does anybody have a good real date that is the last order date for a 2009 F-250? I'm hearing from my dealer certain options and colors are already balancing out, so I don't want to get stuck, but I'd like to wait until April to order. I'm hearing the end of March. What are you all hearing? Bobby Williams, what do you know?

If this is a normal model year, and that's a big if, then the normal last day to order is some time in May. However, that doesn't mean you can order exactly what you want if you wait until the last month to order.
Back in the '99.5 model year, I ordered mine in early April, but Ford had already "balanced out" some options, including the V-10 engine. So if you are hard to please when it comes to exactly the right options, then you need to order right now. Every day you delay means another one or two options might no longer be available until the next model year.
Even the diesel engine might balance out early this year. So if it's no longer available when your dealer processes your order into the Ford order system, you won't have the option of the International-built diesel engine in your new truck. And that would be a shame.
For newbees, "balance out" means Ford has sold all the parts they have available and they won't be receiving any more for this model year. So if it's an option, it could balance out early. Even some standard equipment might balance out early if Ford runs out of it, so then you'd have to pay for the option that replaces the standard part. For example, if Ford runs out of 6-speed manual trannies, you'll have to order an automatic tranny or else not order any truck at all.

My Sierra Blanca in the sig pic was a great pickup for 11.5 years. I sold it last year. Replacement is a 2012 F-150 EcoBoost SuperCrew Lariat.
Thanks, Smokey. I'm not really that hard to please as it looks like alot of trucks out there now (2008's) sitting on dealers lots could fit the bill, but I am thinking of staying away from the 2008's as some of them had the bugs, and the mileage seems to be slightly better with the 2009's. I'm just thinking about ordering exactly what I want and keeping it for many miles. Then, I'd like what I want.
Still undecided on the diesel vs. V-10, though. My thoughts are to drive this next company truck up to about 90,000 miles in under two years, and then buy it outright from the Boss and slip it into my barn to become my trailer hauler. Then, I know who took care of it and how it was driven. Then I'll go to a car for daily driving. I'm thinking the V-10 may be better. I don't believe a diesel rig sitting in the barn just to haul my trailer and only being used a few times a month is good for a smoker. Of course, I could change that and drive it on the weekend sto keep it fresh. In any case, it looks like a V-10 would have to be ordered in any case... my dealer searches have come up short.

Keep in mind that the following info can change at the drop of a hat, but here is what I currently have...
Last day of order date has bounced around a few times, but it currently looks like it will be somewhere between the middle of March and the beginning of April...
Job last for the '09 MY is currently scheduled for 05/15/09...
Job 1 for the '10 MY is currently scheduled for 05/18/09...
The only options that have balanced out for the '09 MY at this point are paint colors and those are Dark Stone and Brilliant Silver (monotone and tutone). Vista Blue for the H-D will balance out on 03/06/09.
The 5.4L and 6.8L gas motors are also on the current controlled commodities list at a medium risk level. The higher the risk level the lower probability of scheduling...

In English, that means that if you want to order an '09 V-10, then you'd better place your order today, and even then it may be too late.

Someone told me once that "If it ain't smokin' it must be broken", so I snagged a 2008 Job #3 F-350 with a 6.4L and 3.55's (see gallery). I love this truck! Had my first regen this morning and watched the fuel used through my ScanGuage II. It wasn't worth mentioning. Last tank turned just under 16mpg hand calculated. Now, let the fun begin. It will be interesting to see if, when, and how bad the economy falls as I track each and every fill-up. If it stays a 15-16mpg, I will have to get reconstructive surgery to put a new set of ears on farther back where I can't swallow them. For now, I'm not holding my breath, but I am praying alot!
