No brainer, sounds like a great deal. The 08 is an awesome truck. The inside is the best Ford has ever made. It's quite and the front looks up to date IMO. My F350 rides better then any truck I've ever owned even a F150 and it pulls like a bull dozer. If your asking me I'd say Go for it! You only live once....

I could argue either way, but this time I'll come down on the side of investing a bit in Big Red and hanging onto it for the duration.

It's not even broken in good yet. You've religiously changed the oil and coolant and filters when due, so you know it's had excellent maintenance for the long run. The only problem is a weak tranny that could go south at any moment, leaving you stranded far from home. So spend a bit over $4,000 for a bulletproof BTS tranny/torque converter, and another few hundred for an oil-to-air tranny cooler from a 6.0L PSD, and install a good 5" performance straight-through muffler to make it sound civilized, then you're good to go. Less than $5,000 to fix that one up, but over $28,000 to trade for the new "leftover" 2008. Use that extra $23,000 to buy some diesel and see the country.

I special-ordered it new and plan to drive it until it quits.

Thanks for your Reply's

you guy's ain't making this easy for an old guy!! I have weighted the idea's Old or New and I really like Big Red .I talked to Brian at BTS he asked if I serviced the trans I told him Twice in 60K and the trans gauge never got over 190 while towing the 5th wheel. Brain said save your Money . I never heard that in the Chicagoland area. Up here they would change the trans , turbo and what ever else you have money for.

But then again that shiney New Lariat sure looks good too. No Dog Hair
Well I guess I'll just roll the dice. and keep reading .

Thanks for your Help. I'll keep pondering my decision !!!!!!!

I think that you are in the same boat that I am in at times. I look and ride in the 08's and think about getting one. Then I get back into my 96 and decide to keep it. I personally think that the older trucks and even one like yours is a better truck than the new ones. Granted the styles and dodads that the new ones have are nice too but I don't need them. I want a truck for a truck and not a car to take a date out to a nice restraint, and it is getting hard to find such a truck anymore. I know that I wouldn't feel too good the first time that I took out a Lariat or a King Ranch and got it stuck in mud up to the doors how I would feel after crawling back into the truck with mud all over me to get home. It proably would be worse than I felt the first time that I did it with my 96. So what I would do is keep Old Red and put a couple thousand into mods or some nice dodads and wait and see what is coming in the next few years.

As you can see from my sig- I trade 'em in after three years. My advice to you- if it's still a good truck. keep it. And for God's sake, how in the HELL did you get them to offer that kind of beans for a truck that old? At first, my dealer offered $15K for my '05 with only 45K on the ticker! I told him kindly where to go and how to get there, got him up to $19.5. I wish I still had my '02. It was loud and rough compared to my '08, but it would be paid for, and I could always chip it.
