What is wrong with aluminum heads?
I'm not aware of the aluminum heads on Duramax's being a problem and those motors can turn out some pretty extreme numbers. I am a long time Ford owner so I'm not taking GM's side, I just don't know that Aluminum heads with 6 head bolts per hole is a bad thing.

Nothing is wrong with Aluminum heads. Top Alcohol Dragsters and Funny cars use them. Mind you they tear them apart frequently, how much boost do those things make? What are they 3-4000 hp?

yes they do create a good amount of combustion pressure....and they r 3500-4000hp....but they are custom built from the ground up....
Diesels are at a high combustion already at stock do to the way they work...that's why most people r skidish of aluminum heads....that and ford's history with the 6.0l.....(i'm pretty sure the 6L has aluminum heads...hmm)

The 6.0L had steel heads, I know because I have one sitting outside right now. the problem with the 6L was not the heads it was the substandard head bolts and the crappy emmissions garbage ( which can be upgraded to solve this problem)I blew the head gaskets at 106K of course, just out of warranty I did the upgrades bolts oil cooler egr kit no problems since. I am looking really hard at the new Super duty though

Hi, new guy here. Current 2008 Duramax owner, all stock. I can't wait for this new Ford to come out. Looks very promising and I think it's what Ford needs, it's what I need too. I plan on trading in my 2008 Duramax for the new 6.7L 5500 Crew Cab Cab & Chassis with 9' utility body.
Duramax and Alli have been perfect but I need a bigger payload. Chevy is a nice truck but the suspension literally is not heavy duty enough for me. My 3500 Chevy dually is like driving a 3/4 ton, the suspension is so soft. I've been having suspension and axle problems since the first 10,000 miles. The truck is 1800 lbs under its max GVW. My Chevy is just not tough enough. They make a good 2500 and 3500 single wheel but this dually is pathetic.
If you want something done right you have to do it yourself. Thats what Ford is doing. It seems like Ford is the first truck company to actually listen to what their customers want and need. I think they are going to be very succesful with this new diesel.
the heads scare mee too. it has 6 bolts but that really is a minimum for this engine with steel heads, IMO it needs 10 bolts, one at each "corner" of each cylinder, and good head bolts too. the duallies are ugly have you seen those fenders in the back?? horrible. plus no stick, I am not getting one. I am done with autos, they suck.

Then no, it is not possible. I'll bet you could buy a new truck with a 6.7L for about what it would cost to modify yours. Getting it bolted in isn't all that hard, making all the electronics work together will cost in the tens of thousands of dollars.

Always the electronics stop my grand plans! I'm sure that a 2002 emission computer would not talk well to a 2010 emissions motor....lol, could be funny to see if it ever fired up.
