Ordering with Manual Transmission

I want to get one of the last PSD's before the changeover at the end of the year. I also want a manual transmission. I have discovered that with the bewildering amount of options most of the luxury options force the auto transmission when I build it out online.

Just wondering if anyone has recently puchased a manual shift truck and which options you got and how difficult it was.

Ideally I would like a loaded F-350 4x4 dually crew with the FX4 trim, leather and Sat Nav. However, to get leather you need to get the captains chairs which blocks out the manual and to get Sat Nav on anything, it requires the "Luxury Package" which also blocks out the manual.

I am not in a hurry and plan on doing this around September-October unless the cutoff for the 6.4 is earlier.

Thanks for your help.

I also ordered a manual tranny F350. I got the lariat. Basically as loaded as it would let me. The only option that it would not let me get was the navigation which I could care two sticks about. Everything else, lets see... lariat, premium sound, upfitter switches, rear view camera, rear dvd etc.. pretty much loaded to the top.. Mine is due in a week. looking forward to it.

one more thing. I have the leather with 40/20/40. I guess the captains would be different. probably because of the center console. I am a 40/20/40 kinda guy. the nav is an issue however. I have seen 2008 trucks with manual and nav so it probably would be an after the fact add on.

The order guide is clear for 2009 models.

Navigation system is not available with stick shifter.

If you want leather seat covers with stick shifter, then you must move up to the Lariat trim and choose 40/20/40 seats.

Option availability might change for 2010 models, but any changes for stick shifters would probably be even more restrictive. The hand shakers are a dying breed. Most dealers will not order any SuperDuty trucks with manual transmission for their inventory.

I gave up the manual shift due to options I had chosen, wasnt sure if it was the right thing to do. Dealers kept telling me the GCWR was rated higher with the Auto. I never thought I would do it but I finally after alot of debate switched to an auto. I have 5000 miles on it so far some of those were pulling anywhere from 19,000# to 23,000# loads. The auto has done a real good job of handling it too!! Im impressed so far, not saying I still would mind having full control of shift points, but with the tow/haul mode it extends shift points and has some downshifting capabilities.

One other advantage I do see to the Auto is that you dont loose as much boost in between gears, where with a manual you loose most of your boost as you depress the clutch , an auto just keeps climbing in boost.

It is possible, but a bit tricky to figure out the correct specs. Give me a call next week and I'll walk you through what can been put together.

The GCWR and the GVWR are pretty important in a lot of states. I'm pretty sure that in California, the distinction lies at somewhere around 10k pounds (+ a few hundred pounds at most). Makes a HUGE difference when it comes to getting registered even though we still pay through the nose due to stupid weight fees and commercial plates.
